Re: Roku Ultra: periodic chirp sound followed by degraded sound

Hello support / forum,

I have not heard back from anyone regarding this issue for a week now. Has anyone in support or development been able to reproduce this issue as I described it using this version of the device? If not is there something I can do to help? I would like to know if there is a plan to address the issue or if I should go ahead and replace this device.

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

Best regards,

- John

Re: Roku Ultra: periodic chirp sound followed by degraded sound

Hi @Kerher,

Thanks for the update here in the Roku Community!

We're glad to assist you with your problem with your Roku Ultra. We'd like these troubleshooting steps to be performed to see if the issue will be fixed. Please follow the steps below:

  1. Power cycle your Roku Ultra. Unplug it from the power source outlet and plug it back in. This may clear up any current issues or temporary glitches in the device.
  2. Restart your Roku Ultra from Settings > System > Power > System restart (if you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step).
  3. Restart your modem and router. Unplug it from the power source outlet and plug it back in. Network latency may significantly impact your streaming experience, leading to issues such as poor audio quality and interruptions.
  4. Power cycle your soundbar and subwoofer, and try disconnecting and reconnecting them from the Roku device. It could be a Bluetooth-interrupted connection affecting the audio. You can also try to stream without them to check if the issue persists.

If the issue persists, you can factory reset your Roku device, but please be advised that it clears the majority of data from your Roku device, restores it to a factory default configuration, and can't guarantee to fix the issue.

Let us know how it goes, and we'll be glad to further assist you.

Kind regards,

Eunice

Re: Roku Ultra: periodic chirp sound followed by degraded sound

Thank you for your reply! I love my Roku and am very glad I stopped my cable subscription and chose Toku.

  • Have you encountered this issue before, or is this the first time?
  •        No, this is NOT the first time. It began happening about 4 months after I connected my new Roku devise.
  • Do you have any other device/s connected to your TV?
  •   Yes, I have a DVD player, but it is only on when I’m using it. The chirping happens even if I disconnect the DVD player.
  • Could you please let me know what steps you have taken to troubleshoot the issue?
  •     It depends, sometime When it occurs I usually let it go till it stops. It is loud and startling…on occasion I will turn off tv and devise, wait few seconds and turn back on…when it happens the sound goes out until it stops.
  • I would like for the problem to not happen…I have also have a Roku on another, smaller TV and it chirps as well, but not as often

Thanks,

Re: Roku Ultra: periodic chirp sound followed by degraded sound

Hello! @flute654,

Thanks for your response,

Let's attempt some additional troubleshooting steps.

  • Remove the HDMI cable and power cycle both the TV  and Roku devices.
  • Try a different HDMI port
  • Try a different HDMI cable less than 6 feet
  • Try another TV

Let's see how it goes.

Thanks,

Arjiemar
