I have a TCL Roku TV. It is not in an enclosed cabinet, on top of any other electronic device, or in direct sunlight, and, it's 14" away from the wall on the top shelf (entertainment center) -open air. It is not on cable or satellite, just OTA with a new good antennae on my rooftop.
How sad that with 21st century technology, I have to have a fan behind the TV where it gets hot (I assume the Roku area) so I can turn it on when I get the Your Device is Overheating, for help visit..." message! I just had to turn it on. BTW, it's over 90F outside, but 72F inside. There's no excuse for this to happen.
Never a problem with my analog TV of any kind, which is now relegated to the 3-season room with a converter box since we were all forced to go digital.

Hello,
I bought a 65" Roku 4K TV 7 months ago and the screen got cracked today.
How do I activate the warranty for the TV.

Thank you for responding. I thought it was the Roku aspect. I'll contact TCL.
Interestingly and coincidentally as I was writing this, the TV froze and started buzzing which I know means it has to be unplugged then plugged back in, in order to restart. I guess I should've suspected TCL, not Roku for the overheating issue.
I just had a long talk with maker of TCL tvs cuz mine is doing same thing as yours. They had me power it down and they did something remotely. Maybe it will fix it, we shall see. Their last solution is factory reset where you lose everything. Their explanation...it was overheating due to "prolonged use". Never could get an answer as to how much TV watching is too much! A fan is a good solution!... but I think I'd rather buy a new/better tv that I don't have to worry about it flaming on!
You are so right! I'm in same exact situ with my Roku TV. Roku says blame it on tcl. When I turn on my tv it says ROKU/TCL, so to blame it on tcl??? ROKU partnered with cheesy TV company so, in my mind, that makes Roku cheesy too! I will NEVER buy another Roku TV. Been on less than 2 hours and a.c. unit blowing on it,. Barely warm to the touch and their cheesy solution is to turn it off. smh
