Re: Network connection issues, must do a system restart every time

Jump to solution

Thanks for keeping in touch, @RastaCook.

We are deeply sorry for any inconvenience or frustration this may have caused you. That's not what we aim for.

If you are experiencing the same issue of consistently rebooting your Roku TVs to be able to connect to your network connection effectively.

We recommend trying one of the aforementioned workarounds by performing a factory reset.

Here's how:

  • Locate the reset button on your Roku device, which is usually on the back or bottom.

image.png

  • Ensure your Roku TV is powered on.

  • Press and hold the reset button for exactly 10 seconds.

  • Watch for a fast-blinking light, indicating that the reset is in progress.

  • Once the light blinks at a normal rate, release the button.

For more detailed information, visit our Support website on how to system restart or factory reset your Roku streaming device.

Please keep us posted on what you find out, and we'll continue assisting you from there.

All the best,
Chel

Re: Network connection issues, must do a system restart every time

I am having the same WiFi issues. Every time I turn on the onn. Roku 40” TV, I have to reset the network connection in System, wait for it to reboot, select a WiFi network, re-enter passcode, & the WiFi connection is fine as long as its not powered off.
it is NOT my ISP or my routers. I’ve tried on 2 different networks/routers with the same anomaly observed.
onn. Model 100097810 HW ID H510X
This started either the Software 13.1.4 Build 1512-EP installed on 7/24/24

It is RIDICULOUS!

Re: Network connection issues, must do a system restart every time

@RokuJechealR  No no no, you do not understand... please we need you to help us! Please understand that doing a factory reset as you suggest is NOT a solution, it is a waste of time.

The issue is OS 13 which cause the network connection to permanently time-out after a period of inactivity (meaning anytime the tv is "off" / "standby"), the only way to get back network connection is to do a system restart (not just close and re-open the tv with the remote, you need to go through 5 menu steps to do the restart : (Settings > System > Power > System Restart > Restart) or you can do a factory reset, but the point is, only after an actual hard restart/reset will the connection be re-established, but only TEMPORARILY, until inevitably the TV is left for a period of inactivity.

Please, I have tested many many many potential fix and workaround, nothing works, I even went as far as requesting my ISP to provide me with an entirely new model/router. There is NOTHING that WE CAN DO to actually fix the issue. If there was a way to maybe roll-back software to OS12 version and somehow prevent roku from auto-updating, that could be a workaround, but as far as I can tell there is no way to realistically achieve this.

The only real solution is for ROKU to actually release an update/patch. Note that THIS WAS CONFIRMED BY ROKU HERE :

https://community.roku.com/t5/Issue-Tracking-Board/Solved-by-future-update-Roku-TV-Network-Connectio...

Quote : "Update (July 18th): We've identified the problem and expect a fix in a future update."

The problem is that we have been waiting and there hasn't been ANY update since and this was MONTHS ago... SOMEONE NEEDS TO HELP US GET THINGS MOVING... this is a CRITICAL FLAW, it shouldnt take MONTHS to patch... who knows if they are actually still working on a fix or if they just forgot about it???

PLEASE WE ARE BEGGING YOU!!! @RokuJechealR @RokuCarly @RokuArjiemar @RokuAustin @RokuMaryEF @RokuRiamie-D @RokuEmmanuel-D @RokuRey-V  ... PLEASE anyone and everyone, please DO SOMETHING... dont just think "someone else will take care of it" no please... only YOU have actual power to reach out to your superiors, to devs, to whoever MIGHT be able to help us...

Re: Have to reconnect to the internet every time the device powers on

Jump to solution

Hi Community users,

Thanks for posting the connectivity issue with your Roku TV to the Roku Community.

For this matter, we're glad to let you know that performing a Factory Reset on your Roku TV may resolve the issue you are experiencing.

You can follow the steps below to perform a factory reset from the Roku device settings:

  1. Press the Home button on your Roku remote.
  2. Scroll up or down and select Settings.
  3. Select System
  4. Select Advanced system settings.
  5. Select Factory reset
  6. Select Factory, reset everything, and follow the on-screen instructions.

You may also use the physical button on your Roku TV. It is located on the back or bottom of your device, and the physical Reset button is either tactile or has a pinhole design that requires a straightened paper clip. It will appear similar to one of the following:

image.png

Once you locate the Reset button and your Roku device is powered on, press and hold the button firmly for about 10 seconds. When the factory reset is complete, an indicator light or status LED will blink rapidly on most Roku devices.

After a successful factory reset, your Roku device will restart in the same state as a factory-new device.

For more detailed information, visit our Support article on Factory resetting a Roku streaming device.

Please keep us posted on what you find out.

All the best,
Chel

Dear community users. Factory reset may or may not work. Someone on this page recommended unplugging tv and plugging it in and it has connected every time. A bit of a pain but better than starting the system, putting in the password etc. this has got to be a Roku problem and it appears they don’t know how to fix it. Good luck.

Roku just stopped connecting to WiFi

Jump to solution

My 1080p roku suddenly won't connect to WiFi. It can see any networks (local, neighbours, phone hotspot).

I tried power off, wait, power on.

Reset network and connect to private network.

I factory reset it.

Not sure what else I can do.

Has an update been pushed? I noticed a new 2024 roku has just been announced which is a possible replacement.

I have the same problem, my roku won't connect to my Wi-Fi unless I reboot my modem. It's every time I try to watch tv. It's infuriating.
