Roku TV Constantly Factory Resets Itself

Hello everyone,

I have a TCL Roku TV (specs below) that, as of yesterday, has decided to start doing factory resets on itself about every half an hour or so. I have done my own factory reset, many times, to see if that would help any. It has not. So far I have noticed that resets can happen as soon as a few seconds  after the TV comes on, or after setting up the device and streaming any given channel for 10-15 minutes. The only constant is that it returns to the "Let's get started" setup screen every single time. And I have to do the setup every single time. I have gone through the setup with and without connecting to the internet and have had the same results. I have tried updating but it seems I'm on the latest build and there is no way to roll back. It seems that my only option is to wait on an update or replace this not even a year old TV. Any input or suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

  • I have set up my TCL tv at least 20 times.  Set the network, get the email to connect to my account, or used to use the code.  Allow it to down load all 80 apps.  It works for a while and then I come back and I see the "lets get started" screen to set it up as a new device.  How do I make this stop?  The TV is running the lastest Roku OS....The last time I set it up (2 days ago) it did an update on everything.

It's not the TV, because my Roku Stick Plus keeps factory setting every couple hours or more. Thus Roku needs to stop sending you to the TV companies. My Stick Plus is less than 2 months old. It just started last night. I've always powered it by wall outlet. I'm not even using a TV but a monitor.

  • Try this… setting>system>power>power on>live tv to put the TV to live tv by default and not Home Screen. For whatever this workaround allowed us to keep the settings and now when we power it off it goes to live tv and we just back out to Home Screen and everything is fine.

I'm sorry you're experiencing the same thing I am. I have a Hitachi Roku tv and it's doing the same thing, but every 24 hours. Now the tv backlight is on and no picture but with sound. I hope something can be done for those of us experiencing this issue. Have you tried calling TCL? I'm going to call Hitachi tomorrow and hopefully get some help.

My Roku TV is doing this same thing. The TV is not that old, about 2 years old. It keeps factory resetting, I'll be watching something and maybe about 2 hours it suddenly shuts off and turns back on with a screen that says "Let's get started." I end up having to enter all of my account info for Roku and all the apps, when I choose Netflix or another app, I  have to log in all over again.

      My tracker issue ID: 67-485-275

      Roku TV 7132X

      TCL model 55S421

      Serial number YNOO134O7367

      Device ID J599A1407367

      Software version 10.5.0 Build 4210-30

I believe that is all the info you need, please let me know how to fix it.

      Thanks,

      Michelle

    Thanks for the posts.

Have you tried unplugging your Roku TV for 5-10 minutes then plugging it back in to see if that resolves the issue you are experiencing?

Please keep us posted what you find out.

    Thanks,
    Danny

Yes. More times than I can remember. Even left it off and unplugged for a week. Same end result. TV factory resets itself and I have to go through system setup again.

  • Were you able to find a fix? My Roku TV is doing the exact same thing and I believe we have the same model. Mine is less than a year old as well.
