Error 014.50

I am getting error #014.50. All my other devices are connected to my WIFI, and my speed is excellent. Even had my ISP here to check it on the internet, and tried her hotspot, and it wouldn't connect. Did a factory reset, and it didn't help.

Does this mean my wireless card is bad?

    I have 3 Roku Ultras.

2 of them are connected to my 5ghz wireless network without issue & speeds are in the hundreds of Mbps (217 Mbps)

1 of the Roku Ultras will not connect to the same 5ghz network the other 2 are connected to without issue. I restarted my router & the Roku Ultra & it will sometimes connect but it does so at 4Mbps or 7Mbps & is unusable. I even reset my network settings & unplugged the Roku for a full minute.

the Roku Ultra having issues is the 4850X on software version 15.0.4 build 5534.

the other 2 Roku Ultras that are working fine are the 4670RW, software version 15.0.4 build 5534.

Any help? Signal strength is excellent for all Rokus.

I connected to my 2.4ghz network & got a result of 102 Mbps. However when reconnecting to the 5ghz it fails. The other 2 Roku Ultras connect to the 5ghz network fine & up until today, so did the 4850X.

      Hey Tario

Thanks for the detailed info! Since your Roku Ultra 4850X struggles with 5GHz while others don’t, try forgetting the network on that device, then reconnect—sometimes clearing saved settings helps. Also, check for any router settings like channel interference or device limit. If issues persist, a full factory reset on the Roku might do the trick. Let’s get that speed back up!

        Hinave123,

I tried resetting the network settings & it had zero effect. I posted below what ended up working but it makes zero sense.

my router can do WPA3 or 2 & for whatever reason, the 4850X & only the 4850X, slows to single digit Mbps when the router is set to WPA2. Switching to WPA3 immediately fixes the issue on the 4850X. It’s very weird.

      Hi Tario

We appreciate the steps that you took about the connectivity issue with your Roku Ultra, and would like to take a closer look at it.

Could you let us know the exact error when it fails to connect? Also, try connecting it to a mobile hotspot to help isolate the issue.

Visit here for more info. Let us know what happens!

        RokuRiamie-D,

The exact error was in the title I posted before it was moved to this post. If it hadn’t been moved, it would be there but it was Error 014.50.

As I stated, I did eventually get past the error but now when connecting via the 5ghz network I’m getting download speeds of 3-7Mbps where on Tuesday I was getting 282Mbps. I just rebooted my router & the Roku again & got 5Mbps on the 4850X.

the other 2 Roku Ultras, the 4670RW, connect to the 5ghz fine & have speeds of 212Mbps & 205Mbps when I run the check connection test.

i connected the 4850X to my mobile hotspot & with the check connection test I got 70Mbps. If I connect the 4850X to my same router but on the 2.4ghz band, I get over 100Mbps.

I’d like to know why the 5ghz band is suddenly not working. Nothing has changed on my Network. I came home Wednesday & it was disconnected. Then it wouldn’t connect, giving me the 014.50 code. Then it would connect to my router but say it couldn’t reach the internet. Now it’s connecting to the internet super slowly.

  • Roku says I have a solid connect but when I select sat britbox it says I am not connect. Does not make any sense.
