Still not Solved: Roku device Turns Off At Startup Our original thread was recently erroneously marked Solved. The person who did that was answering a question we weren't asking, and our original problem remains with no Solution. Here's a link to the original thread, where loads of good pertinent information is provided about the problem: https://community.roku.com/discussions/tv-and-players/roku-device-turns-off-at-startup/1069563?after=MjUuNHwyLjF8aXwxMHwzOToxfGludCwxMDcwMjM2LDEwODgyMTQ AND Here's a copy paste describing the problem for you fresh/here in this thread: "Yes, I am powering Roku Streaming Stick via USB. It has functioned this way just fine for years, right up until that update a few months back. Ever since then, on first use each day, when using my Roku remote to power on my Roku and TV, the TV is shut down just as the Roku homepage is loaded. It's as if the remote sends out a second power command just as the cache is loaded, which turns off the tv. When I power it up again after the forced shut down, everything then stays on as it should. My TV is a Samsung UN55EH6001, and here's a snap of the Roku data you requested." Please Roku technicians, this is not a customer caused problem, it is a software problem caused by the update. Will you help?347Views2likes18CommentsRoku ultra model 4802x will not scan for networks.
I have tried every step i could find to fix this but nothing works. Device isnt even that old and having problems. -after the device did an update it disconnected from my wifi. Tried reconnecting no networks not even my neighbors are showing up even though i have 4 other roku streaming devices including another roku ultra thats the same model as the one having issues but it and the other 3 see my network and every other network on my street. When i try to scan for networks it pops up the scanning message bubble. But it goes away instantly and it tells me to try scanning again. It will not even attempt to scan for networks. I have tried rebooting both by the settings menu and by disconnecting the power cable. Nothing I have reset the network connection. Nothing. Even reset all the network chip options from the "secret" menu. No change. So i gave up and reset to defaults hoping it was just a corrupted update that failed to install properly. No difference to the missing networks and the device is still failing to scan for networks. Now after reset to defaults the device wont pair to its remote or any of the other 4 i have. Says it cant find them. The device however will connect to the internet via ethernet cable intio my router. But thats not gonna work because the device is in a room at the other end of the house and i dont want a cable running down the length of my hallway. Is my device just bricked or what. It does show a mac address in the about menu. But thats the ethernet mac. Cant even attempt to see if it shows the wireless mac because if i disconnect the ethernet cable i lose the ability to control it with my phone in the remote app. Which is the only current way i have to control it since the device wont pair to any of my working remotes that still work on all the other roku's in my house. Its dissapointing considering ive had the ultra for a year and a half and its failing. Meanwhile i have a roku 3 thats easily 14 years old and even though its at "end of service" it still works fine. This isnt a router issue. Its just not trying to find networks. Or remotes. My router is working for all other rokus i have and 20 other devices. So how do i fix this. Also it will not connect when searching for a manually entered/private network.84Views1like3CommentsAirplay doesn’t won't connect to Roku device

This is a strange one. Setup is Roku Streaming stick 4k > 4k TV> AVR via ARC. This has been working perfectly for a long time. Audio was passed thru to the AVR in either Stereo or Dolby Digital depending on the content. A couple of days ago Dolby Digital disappeared. I can browser and select content but anything Eencoded with Dolby is silent, TV indicates it is sending PCM. Note that this is with volume control off on Roku, if I turn volume levelling on then I get the audio on the AVR as a stereo downmix, again in PCM. Turn it off and I again get no audio. Other devices connected to the TV are sending and playing Dolby Digital on the AVR. Where it gets strange is that SOME content on Roku is sending and playing Dolby, In Apple TV+ it sends 5.1 for the previews playing as you browse the app. The sound from the previews is sent and played as Dolby Digital. If I however then try to play the content then again there is no sound. Hmmm, any ideas?133Views1like11CommentsTwo 4 K 5 GHz sticks, one brand new, won't connect to the network
Hello! I've been using Roku's for at least 5 years. I have 5 total, they all do 4k and use 5Ghz. I have one that just one day stopped connecting to 5Ghz. I messed with it and decided it died, okay it happens. I bought another and fresh out of the box, it won't connect to 5Ghz. I have 3 unique SSID's, one for 2.4, two for 5ghz. Everything else in the house connects no problem. I turned off DFS in the router. I limited the channel range to fit only within the Roku's range (why it says it works with a standard but really doesn't is another topic.) The only change I made on my end is move the router, of course since then I made the above changes.. I moved it to a more central location, actually closer to devices. I've also moved the devices to other locations in the house and they also won't connect to 5Ghz. Recap: I have 5 total Roku 4k and 2 we will call "old" that both work on both 5Ghz SSID's. A 3rd bought in the last year won't connect. A brand new one out of the box won't connect. All 4 also connect to 2.4ghz just fine. I have 3 unique SSID's, one for 2.4, two for 5ghz. Everything else in the house connects no problem. I'm at wits end. I can't check right now to see when the last update was, or if I can even see that info but that's the only thing I can think of.85Views1like4CommentsTV restarts when shut off
We purchased a new Samsung 65 NeoLED tv and purchased a new Roku Ultra to connect. After setup, we found that when turning off the tv, it will restart on its own using the Roku remote. I have tried going through the pairing process, still happens. When pairing, I have to go though the 5th option before the sound goes off. I need to solve this problem, since I hate having my tv on when I return home after turning the tv off, leaving, and than returning. I have purchased another new Roku device and it does the same thing. TV and Roku are hardwired to the internet. Any help would be appreciated.41Views0likes1CommentRoku Express Devices Slow
All of my Roku Express devices (I have 4) have gotten incredibly slow, and I'm not sure what to do. I've already tried the standard fixes like clearing the cache with a network connection reset and then restarting the devices, but nothing has helped. The biggest problem now is that the devices are so sluggish, I can't even get to the network connection screen without it freezing. It takes forever just to enter a password because it stops responding after a few button clicks on the remote.Solved39Views1like2Comments
