Spectrum TV app not working on Roku 4K stick

Jump to solution

Background: I have two Roku streaming 4K sticks. One is on a Sony "dumb TV" with HDMI port. One is on a Toshiba Amazon Fire TV. Both are the only way I access Spectrum TV programs.

The Spectrum TV app has stopped working on the dumb TV stick. RLP 1003 error most of the time, or the app won't load at all, network unavailable, or if it does work it disconnects after a few seconds. Used to be just a few channels were flaky now it's the entire app.

Spectrum blames Roku and tells me I need to buy a new stick. I've done all the troubleshooting via Spectrum as well as Roku. Roku says it's a Spectrum issue. Spectrum techs have been onsite as well. Let me say that everything else on the Roku stick works just fine -- all other streaming channels operate smoothly.

Before I go buy another Roku stick or just give up on Spectrum TV altogether, anyone have insight if a solution is even possible? Equipment has been replaced, wiring replaced, factory resets, reboots, you name it.

Hi, @LonestarBabs

Thanks for posting, and welcome to the Roku Community.

We understand the issue you have encountered with your Spectrum TV app not working on your Roku Streaming Stick 4K, and we're here to help. The Error Code RLP 1003 is commonly related with a network issue, For this matter, we recommend following the steps below as a troubleshooting step to address the issue.

  1. Navigate to the channel tile on the Roku home screen, press the star (*) key on your remote, and choose "Remove channel".
  2. Next, restart your device from Settings > System > Power > System Restart (If you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step).
  3. Once your player/TV starts up again, go to "Streaming Store" on the Home screen, and add the channel back once more.
  4. You may also refer to this link: How to resolve a channel playback issue | Official Roku Support

After performing the steps above, restart your modem/router. Use the following steps to restart your modem/router.

  1. Unplug both your modem and router from power
  2. Wait 10 seconds and then plug them back in
  3. Wait for your modem and router to fully restart
  4. Use a phone, tablet, or computer to confirm the internet connection is working
  5. Test the connection on your Roku device

We hope this helps, and let us know if you need further assistance.

Best wishes,
Kash
