My toddler keeps adding channels via the Add Channels app on the Roku Home screen. I've set up a PIN on the website account. But for some reason the PIN doesn't work. When I go to add any channel, the PIN prompt comes up, but it doesn't matter what PIN I type in, it always adds the channel. I can type in 1111 and it'll work. Any set of numbers and it works. What's the point of having a PIN screen come up if any set of numbers bypass it?
We've seen a few reports of this lately. This feature worked as advertised the last time I checked it out, quite a while ago. But when I tested it just now I get the same results you do on my two Roku streamers.
Will accept any entry as PIN (edited to correct model numbers):
Streaming Stick 4K+ 3821X, Roku OS 11.5.0 - Build 4312-CU
Streaming Stick+ 3810X, Roku OS 11.5.0 - Build 4312-50
My Roku TV, however, will only accept the correct PIN:
TCL 43S425/C107X, Roku OS 11.5.0 - Build 4312-93
Flagging this to bring it to the attention of Roku employees @RokuDanny-R, @RokuKariza-D, & @RokuMary-F
At least it's not just me in that case!
I'm having the exact same issue as of yesterday! I've verified all my settings time and time again, even did a factory reset, restart, you name it - NOTHING prevents adding Youtube or any channel for that matter - with any 4 combination pin regardless of what I put in my online account. It's frustrating and I can't find an answer to this on forums. If I cannot prevent this, I'm getting rid of my Roku because if they can't get parental rights to work there's no point having a Roku.
I hope it's sorted out soon I'm having this same problem.
I'm seeing this behavior as well. I thought my teenager had guessed my PIN. Even did a FACTORY RESET of my TLC Roku TV. Looking forward to a fix

I’m having the same issue where my children can enter any combination of 4 digits in the pin and download apps such as YouTube onto our TV. YouTube has horrible parental controls, this is become a huge child safety issue. Needs immediate action and resolution!
