Cannot connect New IPhone 14 Plus to Roku devices

We currently have 4 Roku devices on our home network, all previously working with the Roku App on multiple IPhone 12s.  We recently upgraded three phones to the IPhone 14.  Two phones are working properly with the App and the Roku devices.  One of our phones does not recognize any of our Roku devices using the Roku app.  We have confirmed the phone and devices are on the same network (5g).  We have uninstalled and reinstalled the Roku App.  We have reinstalled the phone from back up.  We have successfully installed a singular Roku device manually with the IP address but cannot install more than one at a time.  We are looking for additional options to resolve this issue.

Have the same with SO’s iPhone 14 Pro  (iOS 16.3) Max where she can only find the device via IP. Even then she can’t start the tv via the Roku app but only control after it’s woken up. I have no such issues with iPhone X (iOS 16.1.1).

        Thanks for the post.

Have you verified that the mobile device and Roku TV are on the same wireless network, and not a different frequency? Have you tried rebooting your wireless network to see if that helps?

Please keep us posted what you find out and we will be able to assist you further.

        Thanks,
        Danny

      Spirited-Pea-1706 on reddit shared this:

"I’m super late, but I just had this issue, and I wanted to comment what helped me fix it (just in case anyone else is having this problem). I’m on an iPhone, and I went to my settings- then Wifi- then clicked on the Wifi I am connected to. It will show things like “auto-join”, “Low Data Mode”, etc. You should see “Private Wi-Fi Address”. If that’s turned on, turn it off. Then go to your Roku app & your device should be on there & you should be able to connect. This is what I did, and my device appeared & I was able to connect. After connecting, I switched the “Private Wi-Fi address” back on again & everything is still working perfectly. I hope this helps anyone else who has this issue."

This worked for many. Unfortunately it didn't work for me.

Thanks for the advice! Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be working for me either.

    Hi TBoro,

    Thanks for the post.

Can you please specify the issue you are experiencing? Is your Roku device connected to the same wireless network as your Roku device? Try removing the app from your iPhone 14 and go to the App Store and download it again and see if that helps resolve the issue you are seeing.

Let us know how it goes!

    Warm Regards,

        Hi TBoro,

        Thanks for the post.

Here are some steps you can try to connect your iPhone 14 Plus to your Roku device using the Roku app:

        1. Make sure your iPhone and Roku device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
        2. Check that both your iPhone and Roku device has the latest software updates installed.
        3. Restart both your iPhone and Roku device.
        4. Uninstall and reinstall the Roku app on your iPhone.
        5. Try connecting to your Roku device using the "Manual Connection" option in the Roku app.

        We hope it helps!

        Warm Regards,

  • Go into Wi-Fi settings and push the little blue i button. Then toggle off “private Wi-Fi address.”

I’ve been struggling with this for a couple months and literally just figured it out on my device.

I already have "private wi-fi address" turned off. The issue with my iPhone 14 Plus discovering Roku devices on my home network has not been resolved. However, it can connect via air play to all 5 of my Roku devices! This proves it is not a home network/wi-fi issue and is an issue wit the Roku app on iPhone 14's as mentioned by hundreds of Roku users. Wiping and restoring an iPhone is a horrible solution that has not worked for many!

I’m in the same boat as most users here. 2 new iPhone 14 promax, one works fine, the other does not work. Tried all the steps but wiping the phone…. Not going there! Roku needs to fix this!

Thanks for the suggestion.  We did try this but unfortunately it didn’t work. The odd thing is we both upgraded our phones the same time. My app works fine not my wives, still will not connect.

I did try that and it didn’t work for me.  I still get the no devices found message. Thank you for the suggestion.

        Hello terry106sc

Thanks for posting here in the Community.

Make sure both devices are on the same network and in the same band. If you are running iOS 14 or later, you must enable the Local Network setting on your mobile device for the Roku app. Go to Settings > Roku and enable the toggle for Local Network. Confirm your Roku TV is using a private IP address.
Most Wi-Fi routers create two separate networks for each Wi-Fi frequency band (2.4GHz and 5GHz). Though technically it shouldn’t matter if your phone and Roku are using different frequencies (both bands share the same subnet on your router so devices can talk to one another), to be absolutely sure, place both your phone and your Roku on the same Wi-Fi frequency band.
For other troubleshooting steps to connect the Roku Mobile app to your device please visit our Support page: Why does the Roku mobile app not see my Roku® streaming device?

        Please keep us posted.

  • I just purchased a new iPhone 14 Plus since I retired and now need to provide my own phone. After opening the Roku app on my iPhone 14 Plus it cannot connect to any of my Roku devices (I have 5 different Roku devices; 3 Roku TVs, one Ultra). My iPhone 14 Plus was on 16.4 and has since been upgraded to 16.4.1. When I first added the Roku app it was v9.09. It has since been upgraded to 9.10. I have tried removing and re-adding the Roku app many times, but it still will not discover any Roku devices even though they are all on the same network. Just to prove that it is not a Wi-Fi issue on my home network, my iPhone 14 Plus can successfully use air play to send to all of our Roku devices, thus proving it is not a home network issue. The Roku app works fine on my iPad Pro 11 and my wife's brand new iPhone 12 (just upgraded her old iPhone SE with a T-Mobile offer for 50% off). My wife's had all data transferred from her old iPhone SE and the Roku app works fine running ios 16.4.1. This seems to either be an issue with the Roku app on iPhone 14's (many complaints about this in the forum and on Google), or that since the Roku app is 9.x and has never successfully discovered any Roku devices on my home network.

    PLEASE HELP!!!

  • I’ve had this issue for 3 months. Make sure your WiFi router is set to “Hidden” or “Private”.
