Last month this APP only on ROKU would freeze after a few minutes. Every time I restated it and rebooted ROKU, THE SAME freeze happens. My smart TV Fox News APP runs fine and never have an issue. Only my two ROKU devices the FOX NEWS APP freezes!! This is not a FOX NEWS ISSUE. THIS IS A ROKU ISSUE. It gets fixed when enough people complain. It stays good for 4-5 weeks then starts freezing again. FIX THIS ISSUE.

No other app on my Roku freezes - only the Fox News app. It is very frustrating. On all other devices (smartphone, iPad…etc) whether I’m streaming via the Foxnews or my ISP’s app, I have ZERO issues.
this is a ROKU issue, and I suspect if I were streaming CNN or MSNBC, it would freeze up at all. There, I said it.

nothing freezes but fox news... been happening for over a year! I write fox news on X & Messenger. I guess I'll try complaining on Instagram too.!

Yup definitely happening again - Fox News channel hangs- restart the app, runs for a while and hangs again

- I'm getting ready to dump them if they don't fix it. They have one more shot to fix this. I removed the app to try and fix it and now I can't even get Fox news app on my home screen. This isn’t a Fox news app issue, this is definitely a Roku issue. I notice not as many people are complaining, I have a feeling they've already lost a lot of customers.

So you are saying Fox News is interfering in the election? As stated many times, this is a problem with the app that is written by Fox News, and have 100% responsibility for. Roku apps are designed differently than most of the others, and need properly trained programmers to maintain.

So answer this...if it's a Fox app issue, why does it work fine for months then start having issues again? I'd think if the app isn't written or coded correctly for Roku, it wouldn't work at all or there would be glitches daily. Here we are, just about a month from the last post and it's happening again.

Fox News app started locking up last night and has become increasingly unusable. Lock up every 5 min or so. Mid content or commercial doesnt matter. This is happening on a 65" TCL Roku TV and on a Roku SoundBar. I have restarted the devices, logged out and back in, checked for updates on the TV and on the app both are up to date.
SoundBar model 9101X, Serial number YL009F344467, Software ver 14, Device ID R64989344467
Fox news app shows up to date but hangs at 13% after restarted multiple times.

I've had problems with Fox News channel for a long time. I have to reset the app almost every time I go to that channel. I'm constantly having to back out and go back in after it locks.
It doesn't happen on ANY other channel. One might assume Roku us targeting Fox???
- andyrossRoku Guru
If you are talking about the standalone app, that is written by and the responsibility of Fox News to maintain. Roku just distributes it.
By channel, if you are using a live TV service like YouTube TV or Hulu+Live TV, then check with them.

App is looking for a address that is not there. Options: Hit the back button, slide over to Fox Business, watch it for a second and slide back to Fox News. Best option: watch it on Fox Nation if you have it!

This is what I have to do, but it's unacceptable to have to do it every 10-15 minutes. This problem does not occur on ANY other channel.

Here is something I just tried. On the Fox news app, scroll down to system settings. Uncheck AUTOPLAY. No more spinning wheel at 13% ! Mine has been fine for an hour now. The Roku Fox news app has become unusable lately , hope this is a permanent fix.
- MetalMan55Binge Watcher
OK..thanks.
My Autoplay was "Off"...I turned to "ON"...we'll see if this helps.
- MetalMan55Binge Watcher
OK...FoxNews App worked all afternoon with no buffering. Fingers crossed that this was a permanent fix.
- jenlan13Streaming Star
I can only get to settings when the app freezes now bc they have removed it from my home page. It just frozen and I went to settings and turned off auto-play. Fingers crossed. It's been working better the past few days...when it freezes it seems to unfreeze itself somehow. I've been sick, so I haven't been vocal. Lol.
Anyone have suggestions for me when I get rid of Roku? Fox is the #1 priority.
- MetalMan55Binge Watcher
Well...no love...the app continues to buffer even with Autoplay toggled "off" or "on".

I have tried many different things & I still won’t load past 13%.

The first step is to completely reboot your Roku. This means either using the System Restart menu option or pulling the power for 30 seconds. If there's no change, the next step is to remove the app, reboot the Roku (this must be done) , then add the app back again. If it's still misbehaving, then there's something wrong either with the app or at the server backend. Either way, that is something Fox would have to address and you would need to contact their tech support.

Maybe they're doing you a favor 😄

There have been many issues with the Fox News app on Roku for several weeks. The app is the responsibility of Fox News, who is their developer. Complain to Fox News to fix the app or how it talks to their servers.
- jenlan13Streaming Star
Not sure...I deleted the Fox app and tried to reinstall it to see if that would solve the issue. Guess what? Now I can't get the Fox app on my home page...does that sound like a Fox app issue? I checked for software upgrades, not the issue.

It happening again today's- stops loading @ 26% - restarting doesn't help at all this time
- jenlan13Streaming Star
Just posted in the other thread, having same issues on two devices. I've tried everything and nothing works. Super frustrating and believe it's time to move on from Roku since they will not work with Fox to resolve this.

When an app is installed, it will be at the bottom of your list. You can scroll down, or even scroll up as it "wraps" around. You can highlight the tile, hit the asterisk key, then choose move it where you want.

Fox News app doesn’t freeze on any other platform. I cannot help but think it is because ROLU doesn’t support conservative news media. Fix it You are potentially alienating more than half of Americans who are conservative
The only apps that regularly freeze on my ROKU TV are Fox News and Fox Business. I have deleted the apps, cleared the cache, performed a system restart, performed an aancient Mayan ritual, got the Tibetan monks to bless my TV, and offered a burnt offering to the one true God. Nothing seems to solve this issue on my end. Therefore, it must be on ROKU’s end.Fix it. I am very frustrated.

Unfortunately, the app developer (Fox News) is responsible for the maintenance and fixes to their channel/app.
The Fox News app has always had issues on Roku. It works for awhile and then with each new Roku OS update it just breaks until the Fox developers address the needed fixes.
I understand your frustration, especially when paying for something that doesn't work, but not a conspiracy, just some malformed coding issues.
- Z-man-42Channel Surfer
Instead of placing the blame only on FOX News, how about ROKU actually WORK with the Fox News developers in coming up with a solution once and for all to solve this issue. Obviously, there is a disconnect between the ROKU OS and the Fox News app, and it seems that this disconnect happens every time there is a ROKU OS upgrade, as you state. Perhaps it would be beneficial to publish to the app developers (including FOX News) what exactly was upgraded in the OS.
Regarding your ROKU OS upgrade: is there proper testing being done on the new versions? Are APP developers, like Fox News, given sufficient time to test and verify that their app works in the new ROKU OS? I am going to assume that the answer to those questions are no: No, the new OS is not properly vetted, and no, application developers are not given sufficient time to test and verify that their apps work properly in the new OS.
Stating "It is not my problem" (especially to the end user / customer) is NOT an effective way to work towards a solution. Deflection should never be used to dispel a known issue with a large impact. The solution is simple: work with the FOX News app developers in coming up with a permanent fix for this ongoing problem.
I work in IT. If my answer was "It is not my problem" when there is a major incident, and I was unwilling to help solve the issue, I would have been fired from my place of employment long, long ago.
Fix this problem.

Your Link to Fox Help does not work.
We expect you, the company of Roku, to resolve this issue for your members. We don't care if it's the company with the app. We pay you excellent money to stream the stations we want. If they don't work, you, your company, Roku, should contact the company in question and get with their development dept. and figure out what the heck is going on.
Quit passing the ball. You all know that Fox News won't contact anybody just like you guys won't. This is probably the last Roku of anything I'll ever buy. Your support system sucks and this answer sucks too.
So sick of companies pass the buck and blaming someone else. Get with it, get with them and fix this issue. It's been going on for years!
So disappointed in your company.
