remote not turning on
My Roku remote won’t turn on even when pressing the restart button or pressing the restart button and home button. The light will not turn on no matter what even if I use multiple new different batteries. When I restart my Roku, it just goes to homepage and I can’t change anything about it because my remote will not turn on no matter what. Please tell me how to fix this.4Views0likes0CommentsAuto Updates are extremely bothersome
So, my Roku remote’s been dead for a few months, and I’ve been using the Roku app and/or the power button on the TV whenever I use it. It was perfectly fine until I went to use the TV and was met with the finalization of an update. Pretty normal. I let it run for a minute but it then says it couldn’t connect to my network and gave me 3 options. Go to my networks settings, restart the TV, or factory reset. I went to the app to fix the wifi, but the app won’t connect to my TV. No problem let me use the button, except the TV is unresponsive with the button, so now I’m stuck unable to use my TV unless I go out and buy batteries, which isn’t a hard task, but it’s annoying that it’s forcing me to do so instead of just letting me use the app or button. Either disable auto updates or just let me use the app or the button to navigate it.8Views0likes0CommentsCan't turn on cc on google tv with roku app
I have a roku tv and a google tv in my home. I can turn on closed captions on the roku tv but for whatever reason I can't turn them on with the roku channel app for google tv. Captions are turned on on the google tv settings, work fine in other apps. They also work on the roku channel on the web but there's way to turn them on on the roku channel app. Has anyone seen this and have a fix?8Views0likes0CommentsRoku remote not working
Hello Community! I am trying to use a Roku gifted to me several years ago. It worked well then...but not now. The Roku unit has a "2" on the top, and the remote is a Simple Player Remote with Mgo, amazon, Netflix and Blockbuster streaming buttons (yup-pretty old). I have connected the device to 2 different TVs with a good HDMI cable. I have cleaned the remote battery connectors and inserted 1 set of new batteries, and 1 set of known-to-work batteries from another remote. I installed the Roku app on my phone and tried to manually connect the device. I have accessed my router info to see that the Roku is not connected to it. I want to use all the resources I have: I do not want to buy another remote (I've not had success with "universal" remotes). Does anyone have suggestions for how to connect an older, undamaged Roku device with the undamaged-but-not-working remote, or the device with the Roku app when I cannot connect the device manually to the app b/c there is no IP address?45Views0likes2CommentsRoku Remote has quit controlling TV sound & mute
My Voice remote has quit controlling my TV sound & mute. It worked fine the last time I used it. Other functions seem unaffected. I replaced the batteries with new ones. The TV remote still works fine. I notice the Roku SW 14.1.4 build 7709 was updated 2/23/25, but not sure if this would affect the remote. I went thru the remote setting procedures and it seemed to complete correctly, but still no volume control. I have a Roku Streaming Stick 4K model 3820X2 and the voice remote that came with it in 2024.323Views1like12CommentsRoku Remote constantly disconnects
The remote I have affiliated with my Roku ultra 2022 constantly disconnects multiple times daily. I have been sent a replacement from Roku directly but it is just the same. This has worked for a long long time and all of a sudden has decided not to connect. I don't know if it is the Roku unit itself or the remote but it is an extreme struggle to reconnect it. I have not changed any of the settings or the television. All software is up-to-date. I have powered down my wireless and rebooted my network any number of times. I have also restarted the Roku unit. None of this works Extremely frustrating and I am angry. I have another unit in another room and it works perfectly. I have not dropped this remote nor broken it in any way. It is the same as the one that originally came with the unit in that it constantly constantly disconnects. The only way I can reconnect it is to hold the connection button down for a long time until it stops blinking. software for the remote is up-to-date. Battery is 95%. Firmware version is rtn.4246. Voice capture FW is en_US.0024 Voice Remote Model is RC795. I reside in the United States. This has been going on for well over three months. I have no other remote or peripherals attached. TV is an LG and software is up-to-date for it as well.. The remote itself is perfectly charged. What is going on? I love my Roku players but this is intolerable. I had a Roku 4 Pro (ethernet jack). It worked fine and then I couldn't do Hulu anymore because it wasn't supported on the Roku 4. So, I bought a Roku express 3960X. It has all been working fine for maybe a year. I went to use the remote and it wasn't working. I figured, ah the batteries are dead. Put new batteries in and it still didn't work. I pressed the pairing button on the back of the remote, still not working. I have followed all the procedures on here. Still not working. The dumb (non voice) remote works. I did the take batteries out of remote, remove power from Roku, put batteries in remote after Roku is started and then press pairing button, it sometimes puts up the pairing dialog, but never finishes. I also went into the settings and tried doing the 'Add a remote' procedure. Still no love. This all used to work. What's up. Did a new firmware update mess it up? The one change that co-incides with this problem is I upgraded my internet and the next time I went to use the Roku is when the remote stopped working. But the Roku does work when I use the (non voice) remote. I would like to keep using the voice remote, because I like that feature. Thank you, Rick307Views0likes3CommentsCan’t connect remote to stick after factory reset
I purchased a Roku express online and it didn’t come with a remote so I bought a Roku voice remote since it said it can connect to most Roku streaming devices. It won’t pair the remote without the device being connected to WiFi so I have no way of getting past the select language screen. The remote is brand new and the batteries work since it lights up into pairing mode when I put them in.Any help would be great37Views0likes1Comment
