Suddenly no sound from soundbar, HDMI ARC and CEC stopped working
I have a soundbar connected to my Sharp Roku TV via HDMI ARC. Everything has been fine for a while now. The other day, without having changed anything, I noticed a few problems: - I have no sound coming from my soundbar when I set the soundbar to the HDMI ARC input. Other inputs on the soundbar play audio fine, and setting the TV audio to output audio through the TV speakers or optical/aux works, so I assume the issue is with the TV. - Using my Roku remote to change volume used to show the volume level in the corner of my screen while it changed the volume on the soundbar. The lights on my soundbar show that the TV actually *is* adjusting the volume on the soundbar, but the volume level number isn't indicated on my TV anymore, and as stated above, there's still no actual sound being played. - Up until now I could turn on my PS5 or Nintendo Switch and it would power on my TV and change to the appropriate input. This isn't happening anymore. I didn't change anything. Just the day before, all of this was working fine, as it had been for years. I tried power cycling the soundbar and the TV, connecting the soundbar to the TV with a different HDMI cable, and checking for updates on the TV (no update since January). I can't get sound working anymore. Anyone have any idea what's wrong here?Solved27KViews0likes68CommentsTV volume changes on its own with Roku ultra and 4K streaming sticks
The TV volume changes intermittently and goes up very loud or very low. This happens with our ROKU Ultra and ROKU 4K streaming sticks. Occasionally, the ROKU remote volume buttons won't work and you have to shut off the TV and turn it back on to gain control of the remote again. All of our streaming sticks software is updated.Solved18KViews10likes94CommentsWhich Roku devices support Tidal HIFI (lossless) ?
Tidal claims that they've partnered with Roku to provide lossless audio service and if you read carefully it appears that they are only talking about Roku Tv and not the other Roku devices. If a moderator could possibly clear this up it would be appreciated. By the way I did sign up for Tidal HiFi using my Premier+ and it does not support lossless so I will be canceling Tidal and looking for a streaming device that does support lossless or passthrough for my next purchase, if Roku has one please let us know. Moderator response would be nice.Solved10KViews1like6CommentsHBO Max Atmos Content Only Outputs in Stereo PCM
Problem: I can't get Dolby Digital 5.1 surround to play from the newest HBO MAX v54.1 app; only Stereo PCM plays. As you can see from my setup below, I can only play Dolby Digital (DD) 5.1 maximum, so it appears that HBO MAX can either deliver Atmos or Stereo PCM; DD 5.1 is no longer available. I get DD 5.1 from the other Roku apps I use just fine (Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, etc.), so it's just this new v54.1 HBO MAX that reverts to Stereo PCM if the streaming system doesn't support Atmos. I previously got DD 5.1 from HBO MAX, but I don't recall exactly when it started playing Stereo PCM only (I think it was the v54.1 update, but not sure?) Anyone else with this problem? Any changes I can make to fix? My Device List: Roku: Ultra 4802X v12.0.0 (Dolby Atmos capable) TV: Sony XBR-46HX929 (Dolby Digital 5.1 capable) Sound bar: Sony Beam Gen 2 (Dolby Atmos Capable) Connections: Roku Ultra HDMI -> Sony TV HDMI ARC -> HDMI ARC Sonos Beam Roku Ultra 4802X Audio Settings: Preferred streaming format: Auto Digital output format: Passthrough Audio formats detected via HDMI: Dolby Audio - DD Volume leveling: Off Dialog Enhancement: Off Additionally, I'm aware that if I set the "Digital output format" to Auto, that the Roku will convert Stereo PCM and Dolby Digital Plus to the max allowed by the receiving unit, which in my case is Dolby Digital 5.1 (my Sony TV maximum). This Stereo PCM -> DD 5.1 conversion sounds worse than getting the straigh Stereo PCM, so I leave this setting to Passthrough (that way I know via the Sonos iOS app what exactly the Sonos Beam is receiving).9.7KViews0likes15CommentsRoku Soundbar as just a Soundbar
I have a non-Roku standard TV. I am using a Roku Soundbar and am happy with it’s operation. The question I have is every once in a while we need to switch over to antenna because our provider is broken(constant buffering). No biggie. But, no sounds come out of the Roku Soundbar. So, I guess my question is how can I make the Roku Soundbar to be JUST a soundbar. Thanks!9.3KViews0likes7CommentsRoku Tv won't pair to Roku Wireless Soundbar
I purchased a Roku Select Series 1080p Full HD Smart RokuTV, along with a Roku TV Wireless Soundbar (exclusively for use with Roku TV), both brand new. Set up the TV yesterday, but I keep getting the "no soundbar found" error message. TV is fully updated. Bluetooth on the Tv is working, because the remote is working just fine. The soundbar is powered on, because I can see the white blinking light. I've tried holding the reset button on the soundbar and unplugging and replugging it in. I've tried resetting the TV as well. No matter what I do, I still get the exact same error message. There isn't even a plug I could use to connect the two devices manually! I called Roku support, but apparently they can take up to 3 days just to call you back. Anybody have any other ideas of what I can do? Having trouble finding threads about this particular issue.Solved8.6KViews0likes5CommentsRoku Streambar optical connection isn't working and sound options are missing from menu
Hi, Recently I have setup a Roku Streambar. My TV is Sony Bravia KDL-32W705B. This TV doesn't support HDMI ARC but is supports HDMI CEC. I have plugged HDMI cable to HDMI MHL and connect supplied optical cable. But unfortunately I can hear sound only from Roku interface. I can't hear any sound from my Apple TV 4K or Amazon firestick 4K. I can hear sound when I chnage volume on any interface. I have setup TV sound setting correctly to pass sound to soundbar. I can see red light in my TV Optical out port (without plugin) but not in Roku streambars optical in port (with or without plugin). Does that means my Roku streambar optical port faulty? I don't have another optical cable to test it. Other issue is on Roku all sound options (Sound modes, Speech clarity, Volume modes, are missing except basic ones (Menu Volume, Audio preferred language). What do you think guys? Please help me guys.Solved8.3KViews0likes8CommentsHDCP Error with Roku Soundbar
Within the second day of installing the Roku soundbar we started getting the HDCP Error message. I followed the instructions to properly install the soundbar. I used all the cables that came with the soundbar. I followed the steps to fix the issue, but only seems to be a temporary fix, because the error message will return a few days later. I just recently changed the HDMI cable to one that I previously had. Seemed to be working fine and then the error message came up again. This never happened with any of our previous Roku devices, which were Roku Premier devices. Is anybody experiencing this issue with their Soundbar. I am on the verge of returning it.
