Roku Ultra - Volume glitch after some time - Volume glitched high or low and distorted
On my Roku ultra, after streaming content for some amount of time, the volume glitches and the level is either really high or really low. Restarting the stream (by pressing back and then streaming again) always fixes the issue. It is a software issue. It never used to happen until a certain software update. The volume on the TV is not changing. The actual volume level of the stream is glitched and is either super high or super low and distorted. It happens after streaming content for some amount of time. Sometimes 10 minutes, sometimes an hour. Changing HDMI cords didn't work. Power cycling didn't work. Changing HDMI audio setting (PCM vs Dolby) didn't work. Factory resetting my Roku ultra didn't work (it auto updates to the latest software after resetting). PLEASE give "Kudos" to this post, it's the only way it'll get the eyes of Roku's audio software engineers to revert whatever awful software change they made a couple of months ago. It happens to me with Hulu and Xfinity Stream. Doesn't happen with YouTube or Plex. So my guess is it has something to do with audio when "streaming" something as opposed to direct play. One more thing to note is that the same audio level glitch happens when streaming the audio through the Roku app to headphones using iOS. So it has nothing to do with my TV / HDMI cord / other. The audio being glitched when playing through headphones on iOS Roku app (plus the fact it started happening after an update) tells me this is ONLY a software issue introduced by an update. The TV volume changes intermittently and goes up very loud or very low. This happens with our ROKU Ultra and ROKU 4K streaming sticks. Occasionally, the ROKU remote volume buttons won't work and you have to shut off the TV and turn it back on to gain control of the remote again. All of our streaming sticks software is updated.Solved18KViews10likes94CommentsSound issues with Roku Ultra and Samsung TV
We have several Roku Ultras that we use with our Samsung TV's. We have a constant problem of no sound coming out of our TV. We have tried switching HDMI inputs and changing HDMI cords. We have also tried changing the Digital Output Format to Stereo from Auto on the Samsung TV. All our TV's are connected with ethernet. The problem does resolve when we unplug the power to the Roku but it is annoying to have to do this multiple times per day on each TV. Is this a known problem with Roku Ultras and Samsung TV's? Same problem with my Roku Streambar that I've had less than a year and a half. Several days ago it just went into recovery mode on its own, and now it's stuck. I keep going through the prompts, successfully connecting to the internet, and then the only option is "update now". It updates and restarts, only to go back to the start of recovery mode.3.9KViews3likes2CommentsStreambar Pro audio drops out only on hdmi sources
Ok I’m finally posti my about an issue that has been driving me nuts for months now. I have a TCL 55R635 TV that I purchased a Roku Streambar Pro, Roku wireless speakers and subwoofer for to set up the surround sound system. I have the Streambar Pro hooked up to the earc port on HDMI4 on the tv, and all audio settings set to auto. This setup worked well for about 7 months, and then around March I started getting consistent audio drops every 3 minutes or so, lasting for about a second at a time. This appears to only happen on devices hooked up to other hdmi ports, such as my Apple TV, Xbox, and PS5. Does not happen on the Roku native apps on the tv. I have tried every possible combination of HDMI cords, ports, and audio settings and absolutely cannot figure out a solution that works. Any help would be appreciated Edit: I should note I'm fairly positive the problem lies with the streambar, as ive tried another soundbar on the same HDMI port and cord and had no issue whatsoever.2.6KViews3likes3CommentsRoku Streambar Pro (9101x) popping noise after an update
I am having a very similar problem that seems to only happen when streaming music via bluetooth from an Android phone. My Streambar Pro was updated to OS 12.5 on Oct 31 2023 and the popping noises began immediately in the Subwoofer Pro and the right-rear speaker (so far as I can tell). This is most certainly related to OS 12.5, since I had been using the streambar for 2-3 months (since new) under OS 12.0 and it was working flawlessly with bluetooth music. I listen to Amazon Music via the phone and the issue happens at all streaming levels (SD, HD, UHD, Atmos, Sony 360). (The issue also happens on Spotify Free.) The (dull) popping is random, although like others, I have noticed some relation to bass activity, but not always. I have tried many steps to solve, short of small-animal sacrifice, without success. Against my better judgment, I was talked into factory resetting the streambar by the Roku phone support person. It was a hassle and was fruitless, as my intuition had presumed. Since a moderately alert schoolboy could surmise this is a problem with OS 12.5, we should all demand a revert to OS 12.0 until they can figure this out. Please, Roku personnel, don't run me around in any more needless circles, (e.g., factory resets, videos). You have plenty of symptoms from all of these users to be able to fix this. Please also update your phone personnel's troubleshooting scripts so that they won't need to have customer do any 'make work' exercises. My components: TCL Roku TV (updated to OS 12.5 very early in Oct with no problems), Streeambar Pro, 4 Roku wirelesss speakers, Roku wireless submoofer (the large one). Phone: Samsung Gal A13 (Androd 13), Amazon Music Android.Solved3.6KViews2likes57CommentsStreambar experiencing audio/bass distortion and crackling problem
My streambar started having audio/bass distortion and crackling problem. I have tried everything from unplugging to resetting including changing the settings, unpairing and pairing, but nothing works. model: 9102R SN: YL00H84543434.5KViews2likes38CommentsStreambar playback issues
I have 800 mbps fiber internet with a moderately new Mesh wifi system. I have to restart my Streambar (9th gen not the Pro) almost twice daily just to function on Netflix, Hulu, and Youtube TV. Hulu has sound synching issues. Netflix slows down to nothing, and Youtube will play slow sound with fast video to be out of synch by 5 minutes or more. Youtube TV usually doesn't resolve with a restart, but the others do. I have no issues with Disney plus, Max, and Paramount Plus. I own two 5th gen Roku Premiers with absolutely no issues on the same Mesh network. What is wrong?Solved5.7KViews2likes16CommentsPrivate listening volume too quiet
I like the private listening feature, but the volume level and quality is variable between apps. For example, when using private listening with YouTube, the volume level is quite low even at maximum volume. When using private listening with Amazon Prime Video, the volume gets much louder and sounds much better. The volume is also low for HBO Max. I just got AirPod Max headphones and the volume can get very loud when I listen to music on Spotify or YouTube or other apps on my iPhone, so I know the headphones can get louder than they are when using Roku private listening. I connected my Bluetooth headphones to an Apple TV at my parents house and the sound quality was amazing, so I think it’s either a problem with Roku private listening overall or the way that each app (YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, HBO Max, etc) deals with the audio for private listening.2.3KViews2likes0Comments
