Roku stick won’t connect to Wi-Fi

Jump to solution

Ever since the last update my Roku stick will not connect to Wi-Fi. This is the 3rd stick I had this happened with. I have tried everything from resetting my router to factory resetting my Roku. The Wi-Fi signal strength shows excellent but it still won’t connect.

Hello! @Colber,

Thank you for posting in the Roku Community!

We appreciate you contacting us regarding the issue with your Roku device connecting to your Wi-Fi. We are pleased to assist.

Did the issue start after the latest update? When did the problem begin?

Troubleshooting steps

  1. Power cycle the Roku device for 30 seconds
  2. Restart the router
  3. You can perform a Network Connection Reset on your Roku device by going to Settings > Advanced system settings > Network connection reset > Reset connection.
  4. After the network reset, your Roku device will restart, and you will need to return to the Settings menu to set up your wireless network again.

If the problem persists, you can connect your streaming device to a mobile hotspot as a temporary workaround to ensure there is no issue with your device.

If you can connect to your mobile hotspot, we advise you to tell your internet provider that your Roku device gets connected to your Mobile Hotspot.

For additional troubleshooting steps, please see this article: How to fix internet errors and issues on your Roku streaming device.

Thanks,
Arjiemar

@Colber

If still having issues connecting, feel free to post back with router model number, your ISP (internet service provider), and the Roku Streaming Stick model numbers (from Settings/System/About) you are having a problem with.

You should also be seeing an error message number in the box when the device fails to connect.

More detailed your description of the network setup you are using, the better.

It started right after the update. I restarted the router and the Roku stick. I had 3 different Roku sticks and it happened to all of them. I just threw them away and got the Xumo box from Xfinity. It’s pretty sad that an update that Roku created would cause this mess just to get consumers to have to purchase new Roku equipment. I will never buy another Roku product!
