I have an 18-year-old Sony Bravia TV. It has a new Roku device hooked up to it and my Wi-Fi system is one gig and working properly with excellent speeds. However, when I’m watching TV, the system buffers frequently and the picture is usually very blurry. My thought is that my TV is too old to work with this technology or is on its last legs. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated
How is the Roku connected to the TV?
How old is your router?
Welcome to the Roku Community, @SamCates!
Thanks for letting us know about this problem you had. We would like to gather more information to investigate it further.
Can you please provide the following information below?
A Roku device may not stream at the same speed as your router transmits due to several factors. These can include poor Wi-Fi signal strength caused by distance, physical obstructions, network congestion, outdated router technology, or the Roku device's limitations in utilizing the available bandwidth. Essentially, even if your router sends a strong signal, the Roku may not receive it at full strength because of various environmental factors.
A network reset is helpful if you experience issues with multiple streaming channels.
After the network reset is done, your Roku device will restart, and you will need to return to the settings menu and set up your wireless network again.
Please check it here: How to improve your Roku streaming device's Wi-Fi or wireless internet connection.
We look forward to hearing from you and looking closely into this issue.
Thanks,
John
