Audio delay works, but why do I need to set it on each use?

Jump to solution

Hi,

I have a Roku Express, which I control using the app.

This connects to bluetooth headphones, but with a delay.  This can be eliminated by changing the delay time in the setting.

Each time I connect, this needs to move slightly, so that the app recognises that a delay is needed.

Can this be fixed so that the previously set delay is applied when the private listening function is enabled and connects?

Regards,

.Glyn

Hi @glynd,

Greetings from the Roku Community, and thanks for the inquiry!

We acknowledge your concern about the audio delay on the Roku mobile app. Help is here. Audio delay on the Roku mobile app can help adjust for audio and video sync issues. For example, if you're using Bluetooth headphones for mobile Headphone Mode and the sound doesn't match the picture on your TV, you can adjust the audio delay to fix the issue.

Higher-resolution video signals, like 4K Ultra HD or HDR, can take longer to process for playback because they contain more data. As a result, the audio signal may need to be delayed longer after it's processed to avoid an audio/video synchronization error (A/V sync error). One symptom of an A/V sync error is when an actor's lip movement doesn't match the words coming out of their mouth.

I hope I have addressed your question appropriately, but reply to this message if the above did
not fix your issue, and we will gladly follow up.

Kind regards,
John
