remote pro power button will not turn ON/OFF

Jump to solution

Roku Remote Pro (2023)

Roku Ultra 4660X, Serial: YJ004U297720, Device ID: CK48A4297720 (2018)

Samsung TV, Model: UN48J520D, Serial: 04MQ3CAH401797Y (2017?)

Vizio soundbar: V21-H8 (2022)

I have successfully paired the remote, all buttons work as expected except for Power button. TV does not respond to Power On/Off. It will turn ON when I press any other button on the remote, for Power Off I have to use a voice command, "power off." Volume up/down/mute all work okay.

I have tried CEC, no go. Using IR pairing the remote first turned off the music at code 10, beyond that the codes either did not allow the power button or the volume buttons, sometimes neither would work.

Any suggestions?

I discovered that I was using an old (2020) Ultra, model # 4660X2. Yesterday I got a new Ultra, model 4802 and the power button works properly.

Hi @ProfPaul, thank you for posting here in the Roku Community!

We understand that you're having an issue with your Roku remote, and we're here to assist you.

To begin, please try setting up your Roku voice remote to control your TV by following the steps below:

Tip: Before you start, adjust the volume on your TV to an audible level. As you make selections, keep your Roku voice remote pointed directly at your TV.

  1. Select Check remote settings to begin.
  2. When you hear music playing, select Yes to confirm. If you do not hear music playing, try increasing the volume using your TV remote.
  3. Next, your Roku device attempts to mute the volume using remote codes for the detected TV brand. If the music stops, select Yes.
    • If the music continues to play, select No. Your Roku device was unable to detect the correct information about your TV, however, you can manually enter the brand by selecting Enter TV brand.
    • As you enter the brand using the on-screen keyboard, a list to the right populates. After you select the brand, the music begins playing again. Select Yes when you hear it. As before, your Roku device again attempts to mute volume, this time using the first of multiple remote codes for the TV brand you entered. After each code is attempted, you are asked if the music stops playing. When it does, select Yes.
  1. Your Roku voice remote is now programmed to control both power and volume on your TV. Select OK to continue.

After reading the tips above, ensure that you follow the steps to set up your remote for TV control.

  1. Press Home on your Roku voice remote
  2. Scroll and select Settings
  3. Select Remotes & devices
  4. Select Remote
  5. Choose your voice remote from the list and select Set up remote for TV control
  6. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process

We also suggest resetting your Roku remote by pressing and holding the Back and Home buttons simultaneously for about 20 seconds. After doing so, pair it again and try using the remote power and volume buttons to see if this makes any difference.

Please let us know if the issue is fixed or reply back to the thread for further assistance, we will be glad to help you.

Thanks,
Jharra

I am having the exact same issue with my LG TV.  Bulldog ate my old remote, bought this Voice Pro as replacement.  I have it plugged into my TV as a the power source.  The remote will not turn it on, voice will turn it off.  If I plug the Roku 4K  device directly into wall, it will work, but if I plug the 4K player into the TV, Power On does not function.  My old remote worked fine plugging directly into the TV.  Pluggin into the wall creates the unsightly view of the chord and the wife is pissy.  Any ideas?

I tried moving to CEC, went through 7 codes, none of them worked, would not allow me to go any further.
