Why is the remote battery life so low?

I own 3 rokus. Two of them are roku TVs and the 3rd is a roku stick plugged into another TV.

One of the TVs with built in roku had the remote go bad so I replaced it. The remote they sent goes through batteries about once a month. The old remote they would last a year.

Is it normal that a replacement remote would use so much power? The replacement remote is the closest this that had to what the original was

Re: Why is the remote battery life so low?

Hi @qedded,

Thank you for your first post here in the Roku Community!

We understand the concerns regarding your Roku remote's fast battery consumption.

Roku remotes are designed to go the distance, but a few things will drain a remote faster. The first is a congested Wi-Fi network around the device. Most remotes use RF to connect to your Roku player, and constant reconnection will require more battery.

Or you may be viewing lots of short-form content, like YouTube, where a streamer could process a few hundred button presses in an hour.

Hope you'll find this info useful. Let us know in case you still have any questions.

All the best,
John
