I cannot control anything, I change to new batteries, not working.

Unplug Roku receiver - wait - plug it back on and still not working. 

The receiver ( where you point the remote control) has no light on a all. 

Can somebody tell me what else I should try to trouble shoot this?

Is this device too old?

Firstly, is this the remote that came with your Roku Express? If so, and there are no blinking lights prompted when you press random buttons, I highly recommend replacing your physical remote. We can't process a replacement because this is no longer under warranty.
