My remote stopped working. I tried resetting the Roku and removing remote batteries, but as soon as I put in the remote batteries it turns off the tv. Everytime. Then I reset my Roku and now I cannot even advance from the remote pairing stage.

You may be able to make some progress by making sure the remote is not pointed at the TV or the TVs IR sensor is covered. But, of course, if a button is stuck as @renojim  suggested, then the remote might be too busy with that to respond to any other buttons.

If everything seems to be in order, we would appreciate it if you could provide the serial number of the device which the remote is paired with. Additionally, it would be helpful to know if there is a pairing button located on the back of the remote, near the battery compartment.
