At my parent’s place, they had free TV from Comcast. And you could add internet and phone if you wished on the same cable. Then some brilliant administrator took a deal to give them free direcTV instead, claiming it would make no difference at all. And if you had no internet or phone from Comcast, and didn’t care that the channel numbers and UI all changed, then I suppose it didn’t! :-) On the other hand, people who wanted internet or phone (not available from DirecTV) had to either refuse the transition, and start paying comcast for TV as well, or they could refuse the transition and stick an antenna in their room, and/or go with streaming, or they could accept DirecTV and come up with something else for their phone and/or internet. The result is a total mishmash of systems. That admin was gone before the transition happened, and the next admin (also gone) had no idea how this cable stuff worked. I never discussed it with the admin after her, who is also gone. Mom, 92, was able to figure out streaming – within reason. Dad, 97, wanted comcast back. Only the comcast you pay for is bigger and fancier and it turns out that he doesn’t like that either. A bunch of people have moved into a new building a couple of miles away. You’ve reminded me that I need to email one of them and ask her how she is doing. She’s one of the ones who chose to pay comcast for TV in this building. (Yet is able to email at 101!) Re: DSTV Streaming (South Africa) Probably because it hasn't started. Have you asked DSTV? They would be the ones building the app. They might have their reasons for not building a Roku app such as the fact that Roku doesn't support that region. That doesn't make it impossible to make an app, but they may be thinking the market it too small. If they get requests from lots of people, that could change. Re: How can I change the resolution on my Samsung 40" smart tv so the entire Roku page is displayed? If it's off by a lot, then the picture size button that renojim mentioned is your best bet. However, if it off by just a little, like maybe 5-10%, then your TV may be set to "overscan". For that issue, you look in the TV's menu for an option like "Screen fit", "Pixel fit" or "1:1". Re: Roku Streaming Stick turns ON after being turned OFF Have you tried turning it off in the AVR? Re: Help with roku tv remote Are these IR remotes? That's what most TVs come with. If so, that's pretty much guaranteed to happen. Go into a store, grab a remote for some TV brand, and watch every TV in the store of that brand react to it. (And sometimes a few other brands too.) However, you should be able to get Wi-Fi (voice) remotes and pair them to separate TVs. Re: Netflix on a 55" Roku Pro Series 4k TV kicks back to the home screen Maybe I can't read, but your title seems to say Netflix is the problem. But the first sentence seems to say everything EXCEPT Netflix is the problem. Re: Roku streamingstick (aspect ratio adjustment?) I think that means: No. ;-) Re: Roku pause button Have you tried the back button? What app(s) are you using? Re: Roku pause button I had no idea what you meant by "delay" in this thread, but I found your other thread and I think you mean that the UI comes up when you pause - and apparently goes away after some delay. Try pressing the back button (the one in the top left of the remote.) Only press it once each time though or you will back out of the video itself. Keep in mind that this may all be dependent on what app(s) you are using. Yes, I suppose you could put some kind of buffering device in front of a Roku and pause/freeze frame that. Of course, the Roku will continue playing so you'll want to pause both devices. (Pause the Roku 2nd so the device in front gets a clear view.) Re: Can't find Emerson TV codes? You're replying to a post from last year so even if it said: "We've never heard of Funds, or Wmwrson", it may or may not still be the case. At most, a support person is likely to generate a report that someone wants something and some group will decide if something is worth doing at this time. If not, unless it is classified as completely bogus, then it probably remains as something that might be picked up when someone has time. As far as IR codes, I would assume Roku gets them from someone else and so this becomes even more vague. By the way, Erh4a said in another thread that his TV came from a friend and he couldn't control it with a third-party universal remote either. Oh and the friend he got it from said he couldn't control it either! He also said he spent an hour on chat with Roku support. (Honestly, that strikes me as a lot of support for some obscure TV from a friend that wasn't working for the friend either!) Someone else in that thread said he had a nearly identical model that worked with his Roku on the Funai brand leading him to question whether the TV's IR sensor worked at all. Sometimes these things just aren't that simple.
