Remote pop, hot and leaking fluid??

My remote just made a super loud POP sound, then started getting very hot… I took off the back cover and it’s all wet… I took out the batteries, why is this happening? Is it safe to put new batteries in? Is this a known issue? Thanks to everyone for any help you can offer.

Re: Remote pop, hot and leaking fluid??

My remote has been doing this also, no smells or visible fluid is leaking from the batteries but this sounded like a battery exploded.

It doesn't appear there's any solution or explanations posted, which I've found typically this technical forum isn't very helpful, just asks for your model and information and never any resolution.
