We appreciate you sharing your issues with your physical Roku remote. Rest assured, we're here to help you fix this and suggest troubleshooting steps.
Before proceeding, please confirm whether you're using the remote that came with your Roku Express 4K. If not, is this the Roku Voice Remote Pro or the Roku Voice Remote Pro (2nd Edition)? Also, can you see blinking lights when you press random buttons on your Roku remote?
In the meantime, let's try rebooting your Roku remote by pressing and holding the Back and Home buttons simultaneously for about 20 seconds. Also, try navigating to your Home screen using the Roku mobile app. Scroll up or down to select Settings > Remotes & devices > Remotes > Remove the remote you have this issue with to clear its system.
