Unable to hide channels in OTA TV guide after firmware update

Jump to solution

I have 3 TCL brand Roku TVs and all got updated to OS 12.5.0 Build 1265 this week.

The functionality to hide channels in the OTA TV guide appears to have gone.

Does anyone know how to hide channels?

Hi @Bobblehat,

Thanks for the posts and welcome to the Roku Community.

When you want to hide a channel, open the Channel options menu and select Hide this channel. You can repeat this for each channel you wish to hide or use the instructions below to hide many channels at once.

  1. Open the Channel options menu.
  2. Select Manage channels
  3. Select Manage channel lineup
  4. Press OK to check the box next to any channel you wish to hide

Hi, @gs100.

We appreciate your input and your patience as we work on this.

Please be aware that we don't have the option to downgrade your OS version. Thanks!

Let us know if there's anything else we can be of assistance with. We'd be glad to continue doing so.

Kind regards,
Carly

Hi Kash,

Thanks for your quick and full reply.

I have previuosly viewed the link you supplied, but pressing the left arrow key doesn't do anything when watching a live TV channel.

If I press the left arrow key in the live TV guide, it just scrolls back through the programs and never selects the channel logo.

Regards,

Bobblehat

I have a Hisense Roku tv, and during the night, it’s taken an update. Now it’s showing all available live tv channels (I previously was able to hide channels I didn’t watch and had no interest in)

I can’t seem to find a function within the tv guide or setting to allow me to hide unwanted live channels anymore.

anyone any tips hints or ideas to assist please?

I'm having the same issue. Hisense Roku TV has update to 12.5.0.4167 and the option to hide channels has been removed.

Hopefully will be sorted soon.

Hi @Scottishmarti @Seagull,

Greetings from the Roku Community!

We appreciate you letting us know about these changes after the update. As it is still under review, can you please try to restart the system of your Roku device by going to Settings > System > Power > System restart (if you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step) and see if it changes anything?

Let us know how it goes, and we'll be happy to assist you further.

Kind regards,

Eunice

Hi Eunice,

System restarted, but no change to the TV input options - hide channels option still missing.

Hi Eunice, thanks for your reply.

Done a reset this morning, and still no option to hide channels.

Still having to look at these yucky 🤮 BBC channels 🤢

Looks like a new update is needing to be issued to rectify this problem.

I too have the same issue,  unable to hide channels since the update.

This makes the guide very difficult to navigate.

Please reinstate the facility to hide channels and/or introduce favourite channel lists.
