Re: Roku Guest Mode Reboot Loop

Jump to solution

Hi @mbtcl,

Welcome to the Roku Community!

We appreciate you sharing your device information with us. To help you better, could you please provide the exact behavior you’re currently experiencing? Additionally, could you let us know your OS version by going to Settings > System > About?

Also, have you tried a factory reset to see if that resolves the issue?

Looking forward to your response!

Best regards,

I’m experiencing the same issue as so many others. TV is stuck turning off, then turning on, trying to sign out of guest mode…. Repeat, repeat.  The only option is to unplug

cannot retrieve OS version from settings.  In fact, cannot navigate the menu whatsoever, since the TV simply cycles as mentioned above.  I have had same issue on over a dozen TVs this week. Hisense, Onn, and this TCL.

also, the factory reset has not worked on any of the TVs to resolve the issue.  I’ve resolved the issue, maybe temporarily?, on all but three TVs, by unplugging for 12-24 hrs., then holding the on/off button on the TV for 60 seconds (another thread suggested this will deenergize the main board), then plugging it in.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve already logged in and turned off guest mode on all the TVs from the app.  Not sure if it works on the 9 not currently cycling on/off, but it has no affect on the three stuck in the cycle

All - the 'FIX' for the reboot loop is to disable guest mode per device from your account settings on a browser. Let the Roku reboot and it will complete the update. Once settled you can turn on guest mode once more.

Rokus by design are the buggiest bits of tech I have ever had the misfortune to own. What a disaster. The band aids and bugs left in production code is outrageous.

When I try to reset it the tv turns off and begins the guest mode shutdown cycle over and over, i don't have the money to buy a new tv nor does my parents. This was given to me by my dad and it kept telling me it will auto sign out but when it did it messed my entire tv up. Please, get this solved.

Hi Community users,

Welcome to the Roku Community!

We appreciate you letting us know that you are experiencing an issue with the Guest mode reboot loop. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

We have identified the problem and expect to provide a fix in an upcoming update.

To help resolve this issue, we recommend performing a factory reset.

  1. Make sure to power on the Roku device/TV before you perform the factory reset.
  2. Locate the reset button of your Roku device/TV. It's typically located on the back or bottom of your device/TV.
  3. Press and Hold the reset button for exactly 10 seconds.
  4. When the factory reset is complete, most Roku devices have an indicator light or status LED that blinks rapidly.

If the issue persists after the factory reset, please provide us with the following details below:

  • Roku device model, serial number, device ID, and OS version. (this can all be found in Settings > System > About)
  • Tracker ID (when you see this issue occur, press the Home button 5 times, followed by the Back button 5 times, and provide us with this ID)
  • Troubleshooting steps taken

We’ll mark this post as solved to help other users facing the same problem.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to resolve this issue promptly.

Best Regards,
Riamie
