My Home Wallpaper was black when I turned the TV on tonight.

Jump to solution

This morning the wallpaper was fine. I turn off the TV to go to run some errands and turn it on tonight snd the wallpaper is black. I can see my apps and can watch my channels fine but I hate the black wallpaper. I don't even do dark mode on my phone.

I try resetting to a different wallpaper just in case it was the wallpaper but still the same issue. Turned the TV off & on still the same.

There is a brief second when you see the wallpaper as the channel you chosen is turning on or off.

Help.

Hey @Tal4,

We appreciate your first post here in the Roku Community!

We see that you're seeing some unintended behavior going on with your Roku wallpaper and we'd love to take a closer look into this.

It seems switching over to a different wallpaper led to no avail. Could you share with us if this issue happens on all the wallpapers available or in an isolated case?

In addition, we'd suggest doing a complete restart by navigating to Settings>>System>>Power (if available)>>System restart. If no luck, please get back here so that we can further look into it.

Regards,

Hi @Savanahhh,

Welcome, and thank you for posting here in the Roku Community!

We understand that you're having issues with your Roku device, and we're glad to assist.

May we know what specific Roku device has this issue? Have you tried the steps provided by the above moderator? This would most likely fix a minor glitch on the device. We also recommend performing the below steps to see if you can resolve the issue:

  1. Power-cycle your Roku player: unplug it from the wall power outlet and plug it back in.
  2. Check for updates: Go to Settings > System > Software Update > Check Now.

Let us know if the above steps have sorted out the concern.

All the best,
Janadee

@Tal4 @I'm having the same issue. It started a few days ago. I thought maybe Roku changed a setting. I haven't changed anything on my Roku in months

Followed the system restart instructions and it’s back to the normal wallpaper and screen saver. The ugly black has finally gone!!!! Thank you for your help 😊

I had the same issue and came here looking for an answer. It worked for me, too. Just unplugged it for a minute and, after plugging it back in, when I turned the tv on it was back to normal.
