My screensaver has been glitching for a few months. I have the latest software and it’s been restarted many times. Sometimes the colors are also wrong. It streams all our channels just fine. Although, sometimes there’s a small pop/click sound and the volume shifts for a moment. Is there a fix for the screensaver or is it a symptom that my Roku will need to be replaced soon?
We're grateful to have you here at the Roku Community, @Chrometacore!
We appreciate you reaching out regarding your concern, and we'd be happy to find you the best resolution possible.
Please be aware that your Hisense Roku TV and streaming stick have the same running system. Thus the glitching. It may be possible that the systems crashed because you plugged your streaming stick into your Hisense Roku TV. Did you try to connect it to a different TV that isn't powered by Roku to see if the issue still persists? Please let us know.
Furthermore, try to check for the latest software updates on your troubled Roku devices to see if it will fix the glitching. You can check it by navigating to your Home screen. Scroll up or down to select Settings > System > System updates > Check Now.
Let us know what you find out, and we'll go from there. We'll be looking forward to your update.
Kind regards,
Carly
Hi @CloseEnough,
Thanks for bringing this issue to the Roku Community!
We will be more than happy to assist you with your issue with the screen saver since it has a glitch. Did you try to unplug the Roku device and the TV for 3 to 5 minutes? After unplugging, please plug it back in again. Let's try to see if that fixes the issue that you're having.
Please keep us posted on what you find out.
Best regards,
John
We had it unplugged for a couple days while we were traveling with it. It was glitching before our travels, too. It's not a huge deal because it's only the screensaver, but it is strange. It's also only glitches some of the time, not all the time.
Hi @CloseEnough,
Thanks for keeping us updated about this issue!
We believe that you did an awesome job troubleshooting the issue with the screen saver, but we will be more than happy to assist you further with this problem. Did you try to change the screensaver that you have right now and see if the issue has been fixed? In addition, what Roku device are you using right now? (e.g., Roku Express, Roku Streambar, Roku TV)
We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Regards,
John
we have a Roku premiere from 2018 connected to a sony bravia tv. We haven't tried to change the screensaver, but it scrolled and played fine earlier today. I haven't seen a pattern to predict when the screensaver glitches. Other screensavers, like for amazon or other channels also work fine. Again, this isn't anything terribly important, but i do appreciate you taking the time to figure this out. The device is 6 years old, it may be time to replace it.
Same issue here on model 3920X Roku Premiere, happens on all the scrolling Roku screensavers and wasn’t affected by turning the Roku off
Thanks for keeping us posted here in the Roku Community!
We're happy to help you with your problem with your screensaver using your Roku Premiere. Please follow these steps:
If the problem persists, please try a different HDMI cable and switch it to a different HDMI port. You can also try using a different USB cord and power adapter. Ensure that it is directly plugged into the wall outlet and not into a power strip.
Let us know if it works.
All the best,
Eunice
We see the same issue on our Roku Ultra. It happens very regularly despite following all of the advice on this thread. Restarts, Unplugging, etc. Like other shave said, it only seems to affect the screensavers and it happens on all of the scrolling screensavers. Sometimes the screen is half-black, sometimes portions of the screensaver are missing. Today, the bottom half is black.
Hi @MarkAndKamiPurd,
Greetings!
Thanks for letting us know about this, and we would be more than glad to help. Would you be so kind as to provide an image of the screensaver Issue you're referring to? Additionally, when did you first notice this issue, and is this happening to all kinds of screensavers or only to particular ones?
Let us know.
All the best,
Kash
