No, Roku is not doing anything. The channel in question isn't working correctly. Only the channel developer can resolve that. And that channel provider is Newsmax, not Roku. Stop making baseless accusations. If Roku didn't want a particular type of information provided on their platform, they simply wouldn't approve the channel for installation. Both Newsmax and FoxNews are approved channels, so that argument doesn't hold water.

And Roku does block some kinds of content, such as porn. You won't find any hardcore porn available on any Roku channel. But there's no validity to accusations of them blocking access to conservative news providers.

@atc98092 Why isn't NewsMax in the Roku's Live 'News' channel group? To your opening point, "No, Roku isn't doing anything."  Sometimes it's what's NOT done by media companies or subtle (biased?) business practices - right? 

I reported the problem of NewsMax not being in Roku's Live news channel group 2 months ago and customers are still waiting on this simple problem to be fixed.

No, I'm not a NewsMax employee or a radical blah-blah-blah. I'm just a customer that is asking a company to do the right thing for all.

I have no answer why Roku hasn't included Newsmax in their Live News channel group. I don't work for them and have no inside information about that. I know you've reported it previously, and I agree with you that it should be included there. Is it being done intentionally? I have no idea. I can't see any benefit of them doing so, but who knows?

We have had similar experience. However, what we would like to know is why Fox News is the only major news network that requires a paid subscription on Roku. I understand that is a Fox decision but why? Don’t they make enough from cable or satellite service fees? There is a large population of voters that can’t afford to add another monthly subscription fee. I’m guessing most don’t take the time and effort it takes to find balanced news reports that are free. NBC, CBS, etc… make it easy. We need balanced commentary widely available.

@SJ180 Fox news isn't the only one that requires a subscription/TV Provider. CNN does as well, and so does NewsMax, CNBC and others. No, they don't feel they make enough from cable/satellite, and in many cases they don't actually offer a direct subscription. You must have a TV provider, which means cable, satellite, or one of the streaming providers such as Fubo TV, YouTube TV or Sling TV. Virtually none of them are "free", they all require some kind of subscription.

Yep. The exact same thing is happening with me ...only on conservative news channels.

Especially Fox News.

So yeah...Roku? Why ARE you scrambling conservative channels?

@Ganagirl, Roku has nothing to do with the poor developers that are responsible for Fox News, Rumble, Newsmax, and other apps I'm probably forgetting about.  As a developer, it's clear to me that the developers of those apps don't have a clue about developing for the Roku platform.

i think they are going woke. they are putting no option to delete catagories they put on that i would not watch liberal . they replaced newsmax with a new one

Roku didn't replace Newsmax. It was Newsmax that replaced their channel with a new version. Think what you want about Roku, but don't blame them for something they do not control. 3rd party channels are created, maintained and controlled by whomever offers the channel. Roku only enforces their meeting the terms of use. Beyond that, the channel developers (in this case Newsmax) have complete control over how their channel operates.
