I don't know if adding a PIN for installing channels would do it, since it's being pushed by Roku, not installed by a user. Re: Roku Mobile app not detecting Roku TV Make sure Device Connect is enabled on your Stick. Since it's working on other devices, that clears any issue with the network or the app. Re: Roku Mobile app not detecting Roku TV There is no "back side" with the app's functionality as a remote for a Roku device. It is purely between the Roku device and the app. If the app cannot find the Roku device, there's very likely a network issue. First, it must be an IP address range within the official "private" IP network range. I don't think it works on an IPv6 only network, so IPv4 must be configured. Your WiFi must not have a security setting that blocks connected devices from see other network devices. VPN use can really mess with device viewing on a network. Device Connect must be enabled on the Roku device. These are all just some basic things to check. Re: Roku Support number Roku does not have a support phone number, toll or otherwise. Use the link renojim provided in his response below. Re: YouTube TV playback issue Apparently I have more of a clue than you do. Roku has no control over the functionality of 3rd party apps. If Google won't make their app work correctly on an older device, it's not the responsibility of Roku to make it work, and they can't do it anyway as they are not the app developer. There's only a handful of responses to this thread, and I have read them all. Since I'm not a Roku employee, I have no access to any "previous emails" that you might have provided. All I can base it on is the content of this thread, and you haven't provided anything that makes me think there's any problem with the Roku itself. I've already mentioned the poor support that Google provides for older devices. Re: Set up the Roku Stick 4K Can you be a bit more specific about what assistance you need? With a Roku Stick, you simply plug it into an available HDMI port on the TV and connect the power cable to a USB port on the TV (really not the recommended way to power the Roku) or to a wall USB power cube adapter. What else do you need to know? Re: YouTube TV playback issue "That doesn’t excuse the fact that it is the Roku express that can no longer handle upgrades YouTube Tv made to their platform." Sorry, it doesn't work that way. Once Roku has released a piece of hardware, it's on the app developers to ensure their app works on that device, or else they let their customers know that they no longer support that device. There are many older Roku devices that apps no longer officially support. You haven't stated which model Roku Express you have (there's 9 different versions starting nine years ago), so we don't know exactly what model you are referring to. One thing I will say is Google doesn't care about supporting older devices. The very first app that was unusable on my original Roku 2 XS was YouTube, and at the time the player was less than three years old. Google writes their apps for the latest hardware, and really doesn't care if older devices no longer work correctly. Re: Roku Media Player no longer plays videos First, the media server function built into Windows is terrible, as it can't play media that isn't supported by Roku (it has no issues with supported media). It has no useful metadata retrieval and poor library management. AvsGunnar has suggested several good media server products, and all are free to use (might offer some additional functions for a cost). I personally use Serviio, but since that requires using the Roku Media Player (there is no Serviio app for Roku), and RMP has so many issues that haven't been addressed for close to 5 years, I would suggest any that were mentioned. But the main problem is RMP. As I mentioned it hasn't been updated for close to 5 years, and even then the majority of the last updates were for music, not video, playback. Roku devices only support a handful of containers (MKV, MP4, MOV, TS) and even fewer video and audio codecs. If your media is unsupported, you need a media server that can transcode your media into a version that Roku can play. I have Plex, Emby and Jellyfin all running on a test server on my network and can recommend any of them for general use. My only caveat for any of them is that Jellyfin and Plex do not support playlist (PLS) files, and Emby has a few limitations with them. I personally use playlists extensively, which is why Serviio is still my primary media server. Disclaimer: I am the author of the Roku profiles (and several TV profiles as well) used in Serviio, and a moderator on their forum. But I am not a paid employee of Serviio. I am happy to assist anyone that has questions about how to use a media server on their home network, even if it's not Serviio. Re: Roku Ultra (2024) Wifi Connection Issues My 4850 is on WiFi, as it's more than triple the speed I get using Ethernet (which is capped at 100Mbps in theory, real world about 91 Mbps). I have no connectivity issues with an access point located about three feet away from the Roku. It measures out at 323 Mbps on my Gigabit network with a 900 Mbps Internet connection. But the Roku internal hardware isn't capable of supporting that speed using fixed bitrate test videos. About the fastest video I can play without any buffering is about 170 Mbps (playing either over WiFi or directly from a USB drive). But that seems to be a processing limitation of the hardware, since the network connection tests far faster than that. Since your 4850 (I'm assuming since you said you bought it recently) is having trouble retaining your network connection (I am also assuming you haven't tested it with Ethernet) I tend to believe also that it's likely a hardware issue. I have stopped using Ethernet on any of my Roku players that support it (3 Ultra versions, and another 4-5 that are WiFi only), and have zero issues with their network connectivity. Re: Roku Ultra 4850RW 2024 Model USB Flash Drive Issues If you’re asking if I see the message asking for access permission, I did see it the first time I inserted the drive but I’m not aware of seeing it again.
