Re: REMOVE "CONTINUE WATCHING" FROM MY HOMESCREEN!

I totally agree with this comment.  You not only put this unwanted feature on the Home Screen but put it front & center where it distracts.  Who came up with this idea and also the idea of cramming all the inputs under one button icon and made the icons so small I have to go up to the TV to see what I need.  Not everyone has a ginormous TV!  The developer needs to be fired.  Give us at least the option to put it back the way it wa or it’s time to look in a different direction for a streaming TV.

Re: REMOVE "CONTINUE WATCHING" FROM MY HOMESCREEN!

Don’t want more info on how to use it…just want the ability to turn it off.  Developers should respond to what TV users want, not try to force feed stuff no one wants.  Just another case of GREED driving what we’re told we should like.  We don’t like what we don’t like & all the info and misdirection won’t change that.  Fire the people who are telling you what consumers want because they are clueless!

Re: REMOVE "CONTINUE WATCHING" FROM MY HOMESCREEN!

Thank you, Smart person…that totally worked.  Now if I could just resize the icons and be able to see all inputs from Home Screen instead of having to click on inputs to get to DVD player, I would be happy again.

Re: REMOVE "CONTINUE WATCHING" FROM MY HOMESCREEN!

A couple of other things I keep forgetting to add. What's the point of setting up profiles in HBO or another channel if my 5 year old  can just pick any show off the "continue watching" list. Already had to explain Harley Quinn and Cowboy Bebop aren't cartoons for kids.

Because of this I have to make sure that list is cleared almost daily. Thanks for the extra work Roku. Please feel free to let me know how this feature improves my experience.

Re: REMOVE "CONTINUE WATCHING" FROM MY HOMESCREEN!

This was posted by @Gotothebeach  and it totally works,,,”Continue Watching” doesn’t come back every day but remains hidden.  With the Sci Fi theme, the ads are also off to the right unseen unless you arrow over there.  I didn’t;t go to the app websites to do that step.  Still not happy Roku did this and the smaller icons/text but no fix for that.

per @Gotothebeach

Posting here as well.  Roku implemented this for third party apps to gather information on what is watched to bring users back to the third party app.  Google "continue watching Roku developers".  To get rid of it, I did the following and it worked:

1.  Press * for Options on each show in continue watching and select hide or remove (don't recall word used).

2.  Press * for Options on the Add Channels and Sleep Timer icons on Home Screen and remove. This removes all shortcuts on Home Screen, which Continue Watching fell under.

3.  Go into Settings-Home screen and hide What to Watch, Featured Free and Shortcuts.

4.  I also removed the Roku channel icon, pressed * for Options on the ad to right of Home Screen and selected hide, reset advertising identifier under Settings-Privacy-Advertising and deselected Personalized Ads and Smart TV Experience, and logged in to the actual website of each third party app through a computer deselected sharing of information with third parties.  Not sure all of this was necessary, but Roku obligates the the third parties to obtain a user's consent to show the Continue Watching on Roku.

Re: REMOVE "CONTINUE WATCHING" FROM MY HOMESCREEN!

Another fun one tonight. Watched "Operation Mincemeat" on Netflix at least a month ago and since I didn't watch all the credits it's showing up on the "Continue Watching" list. Thanks again Roku.

Re: REMOVE "CONTINUE WATCHING" FROM MY HOMESCREEN!

Instead of waiting for Roku to remove the Continue Watching mess, We just removed the Roku from the TV.  Got a Shield and installed a custom launcher. No more ads, fully customizable, and no homepage surprises when we turn it on.

We have been Roku users since the Roku 1 device, I fully blame upper management for these latest blunders with the home screen. They must be trying to get more ad revenue or selling more of their users data. It's a shame to see a good device and company ruined.

Given that the Shield starts at $150, or the Pro for $200, that is a no-go for most people.

Re: REMOVE "CONTINUE WATCHING" FROM MY HOMESCREEN!

True, it is $50 more than the Roku Ultra. But I would have gladly paid $150 for a Roku Ultra without ads, and the ability to turn off these latest homepage updates. Maybe they could also let you remap those stupid shortcut buttons on the remote.

Re: REMOVE "CONTINUE WATCHING" FROM MY HOMESCREEN!

Hi Community users,

Thanks for posting here in the Roku Community!

Please be advised that the "Continue Watching" feature on the Roku home screen is part of the Roku Operating System; thus, removing it is impossible. Please be advised that some publishers control what constitutes content completion (for example, end credits are shown). Once the arrangement has been completed, the channel makes a delete request to remove the content from the Continue Watching row.

For more information on this feature's functionality, you can check it out here.

Please let us know if there are any other concerns or questions aside from this.
All the best,

Chel
