Re: Over heating Stick contacting support

Hi there @mfidhb,

A warm welcome from the Roku Community!

Thank you for your post. We understand that you are reporting an issue with your device overheating.

We recommend running down the checklist below and seeing if you are able to resolve:

  1. Carefully unplug the power cable from your Roku player and allow it to cool down.
  2. Find a cooler location for your Roku player; avoid placing the unit:
  • Inside a cabinet or other closed space;
  • On top of other electronic devices such as cable boxes, routers, or audio/video receivers,
  • In direct sunlight.

       3. Wait at least 10 minutes for your Roku player to cool down. Once cooled, plug the power cable back in and wait for the Roku player to power on.

If your Roku Streaming Stick is overheating, you can try installing a free HDMI extender to help move it away from the back of your TV.

If the issue continues to occur, please reply to this post so we can assist with the next steps.

Regards,

Arjiemar

Re: Over heating Stick contacting support

Thanks for the tips, I’ve done them all and have the stick on an extender.

it’s away from the back of the tv and the wall.  The wall is an interior wall which is cool.  The stick is used primarily at night once in awhile for short periods of time.

it gets exceedingly hot in a short period of time.

im at a loss as how to fix it.  I believe it’s an issue with the stick.

not sure what to do.  Concerned about uising it

Re: Over heating Stick contacting support

Ok Mary the problem is not resolved and when I try to contact someone in support the application just keeps trying to load.

this is my 3rd note to you.

So my problem was the over heating , but the problem is getting worse because the customer support doesn’t seem to exist.

I'm not pleased.  I’d like someone to call me or respond in a chat or something.

im thinking of dumping all my Roku devises and going to something else

Re: Over heating Stick contacting support

I followed the instructions for getting an HDMI extension. When I try to fill out the form, I get an error message that the S/N I put in the form is not correct. IT IS THE CORRECT S/N!!! I've entered it four times. Can I get some help to solve the problem with the overheated device and the S/N?

Re: Over heating Stick contacting support

@Support_None, what's the model number of your Roku device displayed under Settings->System->About?  Is it really a stick that plugs directly into the TV without the need for an HDMI cable?  Try copying and pasting the serial number from your the device details displayed at https://my.roku.com.
