@jlr27, if you're not paying some entity, you have no provider.  For many apps you need a cable, satellite, or cable-like provider (like Hulu, YoutubeTV, Fubo, Sling, etc.).  Roku is not a provider as it's free.

Hi, @Lmorrow

Thanks for posting, and welcome to the Roku Community.

We appreciate your inquiry about streaming CBS content on your Roku device. You can watch CBS shows, live news, sports, and events for free, with no login required. In addition, you also have the option to sign in with your cable provider to access full seasons & stream Live TV from your local CBS stations.

To watch and have full access to CBS content, including Blue Bloods, you may be required to subscribe to a cable provider. For more information, you can contact CBS support here: Contact Support

If there's anything we can do to assist you further, feel free to reach out to us anytime.

Best wishes,
Kash

Hi @jlr27,

Greetings from the Roku Community!

We'd love to take a closer look into this concern that you have with Roku TV since it was asking you for a TV provider. Are you trying to access a channel? If yes, what channel is it?

We'll wait for your response.

Thanks,
John

I’m not aware of Roku having such a list. Perhaps you saw it at some content provider?  In any case they don’t mean “any provider” but rather a provider that they have an appropriate contract with and who has an appropriate login procedure to authenticate your account with the content provider.  As such, they probably know exactly who they have those set up with, but you could always use their contact pages to express your interest in them making a deal with your provider.

Banned but back. Because why not?

@mickey43202 You do not need a provider for Roku but you do need a provider for certain apps/channels such as ESPN or Fox Sports.  What app/channel are you trying to access?  That information will help us to provide an answr.
