Free App for Live TV streaming - NYC

Jump to solution

Fairly new to streaming, is their a free app available to streaming free TV or better to add antennae.  I am located in NYC and looking to view local channels (ABC, CBS, NBS, FOX, CW and any other free accessible channels).  Thanks

You can do a search in the Roku app store for your specific local channels in your area and see if they have an app available, however, keep in mind that those local channels tend to only stream certain things on their apps (such as their news broadcasts) and not provide live broadcasts of the things you would see on live TV.

You may find some free live broadcast content, such as on the Roku channel, however, you may not have your local affiliates on those broadcasts. Some people use an antenna to get over the air broadcast and depending on your location that may work well for you.  Others like me, subscribe to a cable provider and watch those channels that way.

You mention "add antennae". An antenna is added to the TV. Then your TV remote can be used to switch from the antenna input to the Roku input. There are also some over-the-air DVRs like Tablo, that will record local TV that can be viewed through their Roku app.

Banned but back. Because why not?
