Jump to solution

Is it necessary to buys plan to view my events- or can I still see the 17 seconds or less of the video with or without a micro card added?

Re: Smart home camera question-

Hi @Robin110,

A warm welcome here in the Roku Community!

Thanks for the inquiry. Yes, you need to purchase a camera subscription to access event recordings and save them to the cloud using your smart home app. However, even without a subscription or SD card, you can still view live streams and receive picture notifications.

For micro SD cards to have video recordings, there is no need for subscriptions. But to set your expectations, you cannot directly access the video recordings on the app if you're using an SD card on the camera.  If you want to view recordings saved to a micro SD card, you need to remove the micro SD card from the camera and watch it on your computer.

For more information on the advantages of having a subscription, you can check our official product page here: Roku Camera Subscription.

We hope this answers!

Thanks,
Rey
