Hard wired video doorbell hot to touch

Jump to solution

We just installed a wired Roku video doorbell an hour ago and it's hot to touch already. Is that normal, and if not, what could cause that and can we resolve the issue?

Hi @koalalue,

Welcome to the Roku Community!

We acknowledge the concern you raised and thank you for bringing it to our attention. It's possible that the current doorbell may be receiving a voltage that is too high, potentially leading to increased temperature. If feasible, we recommend having the house wiring input for the doorbell tested. The power requirement for the existing doorbell hardware is 16V-24V AC, with a minimum of 10VA.

It's also worth noting that it's been very hot this week in the US, and if the doorbell is in direct sunlight, it will be hot.

For additional support, we'll need back up from our experts from our Support team. Please contact them here at Roku Support, and choose the option for Roku Smart Home.

Let us know if there's anything else we can do to further assist you.

Regards,
Rey
