Doorbell won't record video, only images

We are having the exact same issue. Doorbell and one outdoor camera. Outdoor camera is fine, doorbell only takes photos and there is no setting to fix this. Reconsidering our choice in services at this point 🙄

Re: Doorbell won't record video, only images

Hi @CariousObvi,

Welcome to the Roku Community!

We appreciate you letting us know that your Roku video doorbell is not recording events. No worries; we are here to help you with this.

Before we process, is there a live stream for your Roku video doorbell? In the meantime please follow the troubleshooting steps process below:

  1. Check if the Roku Smart Home app and doorbell firmware are up to date.
  2. Check if the detects motion and detects sound is turned on in the Events Recording setting.
    • Doorbell Live Stream > Settings > Event Recording
  3. Check if there are no event recording schedules.
    • Doorbell Live Stream > Settings > Event Recording > Schedule > All Day should be toggled ON
  4. Turn the detection sensitivity to 100.
    • Doorbell Live Stream > Settings > Detection Zone
    • If you begin to receive too many notifications, they can lower the sensitivity by 5-10 notches at a time until they receive the desired amount of events/notifications.
  5. Power cycle the doorbell.
    • Flip the breaker switch that is powering the doorbell to the “OFF” position, wait 10 full seconds, and flip the breaker switch back to the “ON” position.

We hope you find this information helpful. If the issue persists, please let us know.

Cheers,
Riamie

Re: Doorbell won't record video, only images

So luckily we were able to fix this. The first time it happened I had forgotten to connect all my cameras to my subscription after the trial expired. At a later date, it happened because we had too many recordings. It can become pretty windy in my area, so all the shaking bushes and bendy trees were alerting my cameras. We adjusted the detection and event recording sections and started deleting week old footage to make sure we had room for new videos.
