Can't find where to create pin

Doesn't work.. I go to the pin page and there is no option to create a pin. I can't find anywhere to start.

I hope you're doing well.

Please follow the steps below so you can create a PIN:

  1. Log in your Roku account to https://my.roku.com/
  2. Under PIN preference, click Update.
  3. Put your new pin on the New PIN and Verify PIN boxes to create a PIN. 
  4. Click Save Changes.

Please be advised that your current Roku PIN can't be viewed. However, if you forgot your PIN, we recommend creating a new one. Check out my post above for instructions.

Help changing the pin on remote

I bought a ROKU tv from a friend and I can’t add apps without the pin.  She doesn’t remember it.  How can I change the pin without the old one?

If you log into your device's current account at https://my.roku.com you can create or reset a PIN value. You can then choose when the PIN is to be required, such as before it will allow any subscription or purchase to be made on your account, or add a channel.

But it sounds like you are still linked to your friend's Roku account. A factory reset will be needed to set this Roko up from scratch and link it to an account of your own.  Factory reset is accessed via Settings > System > Advanced system settings > Factory reset.

I followed all instructions for my TCL tv installation. The ROKU works, but I did not initially set up a PIN, but it won't let me add channels without one. I created a PIN and it still does not work. I wish I never put the Tv. I did not have issues with my smaller ROKU device.

@kimpr, do you still have the other Roku device?  Can you add channels to it?  Are you sure that the email address that shows under Settings->System->About is the same email address you're using to log in at https://my.roku.com ?

Hi @kimpr

Thanks for the post.

If you forgot your PIN, you can always create a new one by following the steps below:

  1. Visit my.roku.com.
  2. Sign in if prompted. For assistance, learn what to do if you have forgotten your email address or password.
  3. Under PIN preference, select Update.

Once inside your account, you can also make changes to your PIN preferences.

  1. Go to Making purchases and adding content and select either of the following.
    • Always require a PIN to make purchases and to add items from the Channel Store.
    • Always require a PIN to make purchases.
  2. Go to Change current PIN. If you do not have PIN yet, go to Create PIN.
  3. Enter the PIN you want to use.
  4. Select Save Changes.
