Impending charge on a cancelled subscription?

Jump to solution

In May, I signed up for a 2-month deal on Wondrium through Roku, which required signing up for an account through Wondrium's website.

In June, Wondrium changed its name (back) to The Great Courses Plus.

A few days ago, I cancelled the auto-renew on this subscription. Roku's subscription page says it will not auto-renew. The subscription management option on my Roku device (star on the remote) says it will not auto-renew. My account on The Great Courses Plus website says the subscription will end on July 20th.

AND YET, Roku sent me an email reminder that on July 20th, I'll be charged the regular price for this subscription, unless I turn off auto-renew - which I can't, because it's already turned off.

Is the email just a glitch related to the app's name change? How do I make sure that the subscription is actually off and that I won't be charged?

Thanks for sharing here in the Roku Community, @krispyonion.

We see that you received a message that you will be charged for the subscription that you've already canceled. We got you!

If you're unsure if the subscription has been canceled altogether, you can check it out on the website by:

  1. Sign in to my.roku.com and go to My Subscriptions.
  2. Under Active subscriptions, select the subscription you want to cancel.
  3. Select Manage subscription and then select Turn off auto-renew. Turning off auto-renew means you've canceled your subscription and will not be billed for it in the future.
  4. After canceling your subscription, you'll have access to it until your current billing cycle ends.

After confirming that your subscription has been canceled, you can safely ignore any further messages sent to your email regarding this subscription. You can be assured that you will not be charged again for this subscription. Also, let us know if you will be charged for this subscription after July 20. We'll be able to help you there.

For more information about managing your subscriptions, please visit this support article: How to manage and cancel a streaming subscription.

We hope this information helps. Don't hesitate to reach out if help is needed.

All the best,
