Re: Can I activate without a credit card

Hi @Marielopez

Thanks for the post.

Try signing up for a Roku account through this link: https://my.roku.com/signup/nocc. If it still requires you to enter your credit card information, just click on the Roku logo at the upper left part of the screen then it will route you to the homepage of our website. That means your account has been created without any payment information listed in it.

Let us know if you need more help!

All the best,
Kariza

Why don't you simplify the registration process by elimininating the requirement of user providing credit/debit card digits.  Make it optional.  Most of the time, it is no real benefit to the user, just to Roku.  Just another headache if something goes wrong.  Like unsupervised "cute only to the parents" toddlers hitting remote buttons and charging up the card.

While I did provide a CC number when I first set up my account so many years ago, that particular card expired long ago, and I have never updated the information. Roku has never advised me it was out of date, and everything on my devices work fine. If all the workarounds offered still don't work, then use a card that is near expiration.

All that said, I agree with @Iona-D that Roku should simply put the Skip Step button back on the registration page and be done with it. If users decide they want to charge something through Roku, they can add a CC on their user account page.

This link only takes you to the normal signup / account page where you have to enter a payment method. Please delete this answer. It is wrong.

If you have already created an account login to your account at https://my.roku.com/account.  Then select update payment method and scroll to the bottom of the page and select remove payment method.

Method changed in Sep/Oct 2021.  Older methods no longer work.
