Two-step verification keeps turning on by itself

I’ve turned the two-step verification off, but it keeps turning itself back on. I’ve talked to Roku in chat with no good answers so I called and was told to take a video in screenshots because they didn’t know that it’s a thing so I did. They told me they would get back to me in the email. I received the email late at night saying that the two-step verification has to be turned on. I emailed back and said then why does it give you an option to turn it off? I want my family to be able to see the cameras and I haven’t heard anything back from the company Now. I have to return all these cameras because there’s nowhere stating that. You have to have this on. And no one can get access unless I send them the code every time

  • good afternoon,

It does not state that it has to be turned on. It says if it is turned on then you will have to do these following steps . Also the app gives you an option. if the app is closed and re opened it will ask for the code again no matter if you put the log in info in. Can you tell me why it is an option, the link you sent says its an option, but you are telling me there is no option? Thank you

      Thanks for getting back, Gijasmine05

It looks like your Roku Smart Home app keeps asking for a code every time you open it. Heads up, every time you turn off the two-way verification on the Roku Smart Home app, it will ask you for a code every time you open it.

Also, two-step verification can't be turned off permanently for account security. When you turn off the two-way verification in the Roku Smart Home app, it's only to update or add a new phone number for verification. For more details, visit this link.

      Hope this clears things out!

    Hey, Gijasmine05

It seems that you are having issues with the two-step verification that turns on by itself even if you want to turn it off.

Just a heads up that using the Roku Smart Home app requires enabling two-step verification to keep your Roku account and the app secure. Disabling it is not permanent.

Why is an option on the app to turn it off? Also so that means only one person can watch the cameras? Most houses have more than one person living at houses.
      thank you

You can turn off the two-step verification, but it won't stay off forever. Just keep in mind that anyone in your household can access it from different devices.

The trick is to use the same login details and avoid logging out of the Roku Smart Home app on their devices. This way, they won’t have to go through the two-factor authentication every time they want to check the camera.
