Subscription needed for image events?
I have had three Roku cameras with sd cards in them for about two years now. They have always showed me the image of the event after getting the notification but just today (16 July 2025) it no longer always me to see the image. Do I have to have a subscription to see the image in the app?Solved793Views12likes77Comments⚠️Buyer Beware: Roku Cameras No Longer Record Motion Events Without a Subscription
Just a heads up for anyone confused about why your Roku smart camera stopped showing motion events or snapshots — it’s not a bug. As of July 16, 2025, Roku quietly removed the ability to see motion-triggered images or recordings unless you pay for a subscription. I confirmed this with Roku support. They said the feature was removed because “still images were underutilized” and that now you need a Roku Smart Home Subscription to see events. There was no warning, no email, no notification — it just stopped working. You’ll still get motion alerts, but now they don’t include any image or video unless you’re paying monthly. That kind of defeats the purpose of a security camera. What changed: Motion events no longer save images or recordings Notifications still come through, but there’s nothing to see Roku support says this is intentional and permanent I used to rely on those snapshots to check what triggered alerts — now it just says “motion detected” with no info unless I’m watching live. I’ve already filed a complaint with the BBB, and I encourage others to do the same. If you live in California, Washington, or NY, you may also want to contact your state a general’s office — they tend to take consumer protection issues more seriously.77Views4likes3CommentsCan't view Roku Camera on TV Camera app
I can access all 3 cameras and an outlet via the roku app on my phone. Implies good connectivity via internet and everything works. BUT... when I go to view cameras via the Roku Camera app on a Roku TV, only one camera is viewable. Other cams don't connect. It was all working for a few weeks. Now I'm a thousand miles away and I can't monitor my cameras via a roku enabled TV. I'm paying for this subscription to enable this, but I can't get any help from anyone from Roku. Seems I should cancel subscription and stop telling everyone how great Roku is?Solved1.3KViews0likes8CommentsRoku Outdoor Camera No Events Recording
I'm not able to view events from outdoor camera on my smart phone. I have a subscription, but my floodlight camera is not showing the events as it was before my trial ended. Again I purchased the subscription. i have read through the community posts. I have tried resetting the floodlight. I have tried adjusting the detection area, the sensitivity levels. I still get no logs on the events. I'm currently wasting money and don't have the security I paid for. Please help Todd HSolved577Views1like6CommentsSmart home app does not play motion from SD
I have a CS1000X monitoring camera. During the free trial period I could play the captured recordings in motion. When the free trial ended the app only shows captured still images and will not play motion on captures. I have no intention of paying the monthly monitoring fee. When I remove the SD card from the camera and plug it into my computer, I can play the entire scene from beginning to end in motion but the scene can only be viewed as a single stop action frame when it is plugged into the camera and I use the app. Am I doing something wrong or is Roku pulling a sleazy move here?Solved89Views0likes6CommentsRoku smart home app keeps freezing during the live feeds.
I use the Roku smart home app on my mobile and tablet to monitor live feeds from 4 security cameras outside. I use Roku cameras app on my Roku TV to view live feeds. Very few issues with that app. I also have 1 gig fiber Internet from spectrum. Very fast and reliable. I've reset every piece of equipment involved and updated apps. With all that out of the way my issue is the following. The live feed in the smart home app on my mobile devices keeps freezing up. I can view all recorded videos with no issue. So I know the cameras are working fine. If I refresh the picture it will show a current frozen picture. I know because the timestamp changes. But that is it, no continuous live feed. Sometimes the app starts working later into the night around 7 or 8 o'clock eastern time. ????? It's slightly glitchy during this time. When I wake up in the morning say around 7 am it's no longer working properly, back to frozen feeds. I receive about 250 Mbps minimum through each individual device of Wi-Fi regularly which is more than fast enough for live feeds. It seems to me like a Roku server problem or something similar on Roku end . Getting frustrated and considering starting over with Wyze cameras. Anyone have any helpful suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.1.1KViews1like45CommentsRoku Battery Camera low Audio
I just purchased and installed your Roku battery outside security camera and you can add me to the list of audio volume level complaints. The outside incoming sound is great, clear as a bell, but when you try to communicate through the camera speaker the output is much too low to hear. There must be a firmware fix for this, otherwise it is an unusable feature. Please advise. Thanks….38Views1like1Comment
