I have reset the app, uninstalled and reinstalled the Apple TV app and it still will not sign me in. If I choose mobile sign in it says verification failed. If I choose tv sign in it just spins and never signs me In. My information is correct and I’m able to sign in on my phone. I have the Roku express. Please help
Do you seriously believe that I have not tried that and every other suggestion? I cannot get any of the 7000x TVs I have to work. I have been to apple to verify my acct settings, did the cache flush incessantly (so many times I have memorized the method home 5x, up 1x, rew 2x, ff 2x) sometimes in conjunction with many reinstalls/uninstalls. I have even reset the tv's to factory settings - FOUR times.
I mean, I genuinely appreciate suggestions, I really do but I would not complain had I not gone through every possible known fix. The app loads and runs but I cannot login, I just get the spinning circle ring.
Apple says the problem is roku, roku says the problem is apple and me... I have followed instructions precisely countless times. The instructions are far too simple for there to have been an error made and certainly not in all of the times I have tried to remedy this in the past 3 months. Again these are confirmed 7000x tvs that are listed as 'supported'.
My ultras worked after factory reset. No reason in the world why I'd get those right and the tv's wrong using the same method.
I have the same problem with "The Roku Channel" on my Samsung Smart TV. Roku and Samsung just keep kicking the ball back and forth! I give up.
In my efforts to reply to you I have had to log into apple and Roku both and had to go back to the page several times and I feel your frustration. I am desolate to see so little help available in accessing a product supposedly free. To add insult to injury I can log into the apple store with the same password without supplying the SECURITY QUESTIONS whose only purpose I believe is to provide yet another path thru the brambles. I do not want the two factor security level and found my self with it anyway. The SECURITY QUESTIONS are my choke point. Just to let you know we invisible majority are with you, most of which have been deterred by the hurdles put in place so that I suspect the 'problem' has a minimal number of complaints.
Have you figured this out? I have one Roku Express downstairs that Apple TV works and one upstairs where I get verification failure and a spinning wheel. I can’t find a solution and neither Apple nor Roku wants to take responsibility.
I am having same issue on 2 separate Roku Express 3930x devices. When I try to Sign in on Mobile device it immediately errors: Verification Failed There was errors signing you in. Wait a moment, then try again. I have tried every step I can find and still same issue. Called Apple and they tried a few things which were the same steps i have been trying and told me the error is coming back immediately so its not even trying to call out to start a verification. I can us other Netflix and Hulu no issues at all.
So what are my opptions?
I'm super happy to report that something finally worked for me, maybe it will help some others as well.
After doing my weekly check for an update to Apple TV, I tried signing in again. Still no luck, authentication error immediately after selecting "sign in on mobile". Then just for fun I set the Roku to Guest Mode (Settings -> System -> Guest Mode) added the Apple TV channel and sign in worked the first time. After exiting Guest Mode, I was able to sign in normally.
This has frustrated me for so long, I am so happy to be able to watch Apple TV on my TV finally. Hope it helps someone else. I have a TCL 55S403 TV (Roku 7105X). I'm running software version 9.3.0 build 4194-30, with Apple TV channel version v5.0 build 81.
There was a post earlier about signing into guest mode > adding / signing into AppleTV > signing out of guest mode and signing into Apple TV under your regular account. As unlikely as this method sounds it worked for me. Thank you!!!
Having the same issue as of 05/05/2020 (date of purchase) Roku Roku Express (3930, 3931 series) Express 3930X, Os 9.2.1. - 4090-AE. I can access and use the Apple TV from my iPad. Roku is set up and capable of sign in to Plex account, for example. Trying sign in using mobile device leads to there was error in identification try later message, signi in on TV with correct Apple ID and pswd generates spinning circle Sign In forever. Restarted Roku, removed, re-installed and reset Apple TV app, even turn off power to Roku for 2 minutes and repeated all - no help. Discussing with friend, he tried Sign In with his account from Roku with os 9.2.0, which connected to Apple served and provided identification code. Is this a software update needed issue? Please help!
I have a Roku Express on my downstairs Samsung TV and can use Apple TV app just fine. I have a Roku Express on my Insignia Roku TV upstairs and can’t login to the Apple TV app. When using mobile it says verification failure and when signing on thru the TV, the wheel just spins forever. I saw another post about an SD card but mine doesn’t have one that I can tell. I contacted Apple and they told me to contact Roku. On the other post Roku says to contact Apple. I literally just bought this Roku Express so I can watch Apple TV upstairs and it doesn’t work.

I am having same issue may 18th. I think it depends on ur tv too. I read it works for those who have a LG or a samsung. Even though you're using roku. Insignia it will not work. If anyone found a solution let me know. Its very unprofessional of apple. I'm not a fan anyway

Roku players have no idea what brand TV they are connected to. I can't see any way for the display brand to cause a login issue. My Ultra 4640 is connected to a Samsung and I'm signed into the Apple TV channel with my iTunes account without a problem. My entire media library is available. I don't subscribe to ATV+, but since that should be tied to the same iTunes account, that shouldn't be an issue.
How do you upgrade to 9.2? I have current software version 9.2.1 and every time I check for an update, it says "all software is up to date." I am in the same boat a lot of others are. I've done ALL the things. I've talked to Apple Support and did all of their recommendations. I intentionally bought Roku to be able to watch Apple TV + .

I just bought a Roku Express (3930) for my father-in-law and having same sign-in issues. No SD card to take out, have restarted Roku and re-installed Apple TV app multiple times no luck, still getting the signing in screen buffering forever and verification error from my mobile phone...help?
I realize tech support is stating this is a APPLE issue but if you are going to carry their App on your product you should really have them fix it. I try logging in with my APPLE ID and it just keeps spinning, Signing In.... My fear is calling Apple Support and they will state its not their device since its a Roku and it wont work. Apple support is utter garbage that is why I bought a Roku instead of an Apple TV..
Maybe Roku as a company should state we are not offering your channel until you fix the problem.. I am keeping my 30 dollar Roku device just because it carries my Cable carriers app which I can use on a tv without having a box otherwise id take this back to my the store where I bought it because basically this is false advertisement. Why say you carry an App if it doesn't work with your devices?
Please escalate this to your upper management and have it fixed.. The Better Business Bureau and the FCC should look into this if it continues
I too have the same issue. Unable to login to Apple TV via a new Roku Express. I reached out to Roku Support, and they told me to talk to Apple.
The Roku Express is not compatible with Apple TV, and it should not be advertised or sold with Apple TV mentioned in the marketing (as it currently is).
I have the same problem on a new TCL 4K TV with Roku built in, from Costco. Uninstalling/resetting the app, signing in on mobile and TV fails. Mobile sign on attempt produces the Verification Failed message, sign on via TV gets the forever spinning wheel.
I recently also bought a Roku Streaming Stick+ and the Apple TV sign in works fine there.

-Roku device model number
-Roku device serial number
-OS system of Roku device (all 3 can be found in Settings > System > About)
-Channel version and build (found by selecting the channel and pressing the * button).
