Unable to sign into Apple TV app

I have reset the app, uninstalled and reinstalled the Apple TV app and it still will not sign me in. If I choose mobile sign in it says verification failed. If I choose tv sign in it just spins and never signs me In. My information is correct and I’m able to sign in on my phone. I have the Roku express. Please help

  • Okay, so.. I had the same issue. And I feel stupid and like I wasted Apple's time-- the lady was really nice and helpful. Here's a key step for anyone reading:

RESTART YOUR ROKU AFTER REINSTALLING THE APP. I'm not sure why-- she tried to explain it to me, but the gist is this: anytime you're still experiencing the same bug, restart the unit itself, WITH the software installed. Because chances are, it'll regulate or sweep out any malfunctions that were reoccurring with the reinstall.

So what worked for me was, uninstall, restart Roku, reinstall app, RESTART ROKU AGAIN (with app on there). To be safe, yes, let them send their analytics.

After that, it instantly generated the mobile sign-in code/QR code and the rest is history. Success! Hope this helps someone.

I’m having the same problem. I have uninstalled, reinstalled AppleTV, restarted Roku, unplugged Roku, checked for updates for both and still nothing works to login. It used to work until I uninstalled it due to the issue I first reported regarding the video display size. This is very frustrating. I bought the Roku Streaming Stick + about a month ago. Please help!!!

      Hi everyone,

      Thanks for the post.

Try removing the channel from the Roku home screen by navigating to the channel tile, pressing the * key on your remote and choosing 'Remove channel'. Then restart your device from Settings>System>System restart. Once your player starts up again, add the channel back once more.

Does this clear up the issue you are seeing? Please keep us posted.

      Thanks,
      Danny

Hi Danny. Unfortunately not- I’ve tried every permutation of removing, restarting, reinstalling you can think of plus singing on to different Wi-Fi network and trying in guest mode. I’ve updated to the latest 9.4 Roku os but that’s not made a difference. Also spent ages talking to Apple who insist it’s a Roku issue. Can you help? If my Roku device is faulty can you send me another?

  • Hi yes i also can not log into my Apple TV account on my Roku.

    Roku TV 8113X

    TCL Model 40S325

    Software version 9.4.0 build 4190-48

Unfortunately they don’t have any good guidance regarding this. Mine was fixed I’m guessing by accident.

I recently got a new iPhone and I had to sign out of iCloud on all my devices. Once I signed back in maybe it allowed my Apple TV app to connect to the server. I just don’t know how it got fixed for sure.

Try signing out of iCloud and/or changing your password.

  • I had the same issue--after trying everything else (checking for updates, removing the Channel, resetting my Roku, unplugging and replugging in the Roku, removing my CD card and repeating, etc.).  The only thing that worked for me was the following:  On the initial Apple Channel page you are asked to select [Sign In or Start Free Trial] or [Sign in Later].  I picked [Sign in Later] and then used the menu item within the Apple Channel App to log in.  Once I clicked on Log in, I used the QRC Code and my Apple phone to log in.   Hope that helps.
