Roku remotes with channel numbers?
Wow, my parents and I are having this problem with the lack of numerical buttons with a TCL HDTV (28S305)'s Roku RC. They watch it from OTA (antenna) and Internet apps (Spectrum, YouTube, CBS News, Vimeo, etc.). They really hate the lack of numerical buttons, iPhones' virtual Roku RC app (no numerical buttons too), and don't want to use voice inputs. I can't believe an old school RC still doesn't exist. :(60KViews32likes153CommentsWhy is Roku, whos worth 40 billion USD still doing nothing2 fix their defective remotes after years?
Ive seen complaints about these defective remotes going as far back as 2018! Countless thousands of complaints about these god awful products, for YEARS and theyre still selling defective remotes? This company is worth billions and they cant figure out to make a remote that works properly? Spare me the excuses created to control negative PR. Almost everyone I know uses multiple Rokus and almost everyone I know who uses them is so fed up with the defective remotes theyre talking about switching to firestick or other competitors, many of my loved ones already have. I will be too soon. Rest assured Roku doesnt give a shiz about their customers or quality control.8.4KViews29likes32CommentsRemote skips or jumps over multiple channels
My remote started to misbehave. The channel selection does not work. For a single button press, the cursor jumps or skips over 2 to 3 channels. This makes selecting what to watch impossible. Tried new batteries. Tried to reboot. Why is the Roku behaving in a manner that makes it unusable? How to fix this?146KViews26likes14CommentsCan I disable the lower 4 buttons on the Stick remote?
I mean the Netflix, Amazon, Sling and Google buttons. It really annoys me if I'm watching something and accidentally hit one of those instead of Rewind. I can get to the channels I use easily enough with Home and a couple of arrows, but if I just want to catch a bit of dialogue I missed and hit one by mistake all of a sudden it's exiting whatever I'm watching and it's firing up Sling (usually that's the one I hit by mistake). IMO It was a poor design choice to put these buttons on the remote in the first place. Despite it being thicker I much prefer the old 2XS remote which I still use on one of my TVs.. So far I've found 2 suggestions on other forums around the internet. 1: Just put tape over them 2: Take the remote apart and and literally destroy the contacts on the circuit board for those buttons.. I don't want to do EITHER of those things. Having the ability to reprogram them would be nice. I could reprogram them to NULL or to just Rewind or maybe even to Volume and Power for my TV. Then I wouldn't need two remotes just to watch TV. I hope Roku got paid well by those 4 companies because it seems to be more of an annoyance than a benefit to customers. In fact I even discovered some models have a button for Rdio which I never even heard of and is apparently a defunct company so the button is useless now anyway.53KViews25likes88CommentsNo headphone jack on the Roku Remote Pro 2nd Edition
What! No earbud jack in your new Roku Voice Remote Pro Second Edition . What's the point of that? Don't you guys realize how most people watch these days. So you've tried to solve the battery drain problem by taking away the poorly designed audio earbud transmission/energy use problem. I have a remote head set - an around the neck type - that syncs with every device I own except the Roku, and its battery lasts for over a week. It can last much longer if you remember to turn it off (yes, it has an on-off button - an advanced technology Roku should investigate!). So, Roku, you've taken one large step backwards with you new remote. I got an idea - go to your customer suggestion page and listen to your customers criticisms, especially on the battery problem. Or, better yet, just fix the removable battery door problem and go back to your old model.Solved10KViews24likes72CommentsRemotes with numeric pad?
Are there ANY remotes out there that work with number keypads to make changing stations on digital TV easier, than to just SLOWLY go up and down the channels? There's gotta be a better way! If there aren't any, why can't Roku design the technology to have such a remote? It is SUCH a pain to manually go up and down all the channels. I have to slowly go from 2.1 to 2.2 to 5.1 to 5.2 to 5.3 to 7.1 to 7.2 to 7.3 to 9.1 etc. And if you go too fast, it scrolls through a bunch of stuff on the same channel. Is there a solution?Solved91KViews21likes35CommentsDid your Roku remote lose volume and TV control after the latest update? Check here!
