Hi
I recently started using Three network home broadband which is using 5g network and my Roku express is not connecting to internet any more. I have tried:
Restarting Roku
Resetting Roku
Restarting Modem
Trying connecting Roku with 2.4GHZ but it won't connect.
When I connect it using my mobile network or any other fiber network it connects easily.
Please help on how to connect Roku with Three UK home broadband Modem.
Thanks.
There are some router setting issues that can prevent establishing Roku WiFi connections. And to make matters worse, some of them can be set by recently-reported router updates. These have primarily been reported with routers supplied by internet providers (in the US, Comcast/Xfinity, Cox, and AT&T so far), but it's possible they could also occur with other internet providers or user-owned routers that have received similar updates.
If your problem was not caused by any of the above, a restart of the router (even if other devices are still connecting) followed by a restart of the Roku may allow the connection to be reestablished. Depending on your Roku model you'll find the "System restart" option under either "Settings > System > Power" or if you have no "Power" option, under "Settings > System", or if more convenient you can just pull the Roku's power for a few seconds and let it restart.
I've just had this come up, I've just moved house and the same issue with the 3 three 5g router. I've done a bit of searching around and found someone online that posted the following and it's solved my problem, I've spent about two hours trying to sort it and then stumbled across this, which originally was meant to sort out someone accessing netflix, but it's now allowed my Roku to get an outside connection. Hope this helps someone in the future-
ORIGIONAL POST.
Since receiving my ZTE 5G router I have experienced many problems. The main issue being my Lounge TV wouldn’t run the Netflix app. I rang Three, then Netflix, and finally contacted Samsung, the TV is under warranty. None of the services could offer a resolution. I contacted an engineer who was unable to solve the issue. Following and during the process I searched the internet for possible causes. On finding a Forum post I discovered a possible solution.
In the router settings change the APN setting from 3internet to three.co.uk.
Netflix and all other services are now working!!!
Now, my question is: have I weakened any security issues by changing the original 3internet setting? When I log in to the router admin via the IP address 192.168.0.1 my windows 11 Edge browser address bar displays NOT SECURE!
@BRNYS8558, many (most?) routers don't support https for their admin webpage (which you're getting when you connect to https://192.168.0.1). It means that particular connection from your Windows computer to your router isn't using a secure connection; it doesn't mean that your entire network isn't secure. Technically, anyone in your home connected to your network could capture the traffic from your computer to the router's admin page, but hopefully there's no one living in your home that you don't trust. 🙂 You can safely ignore that warning for that webpage.
