I have a Roku Premiere and for years anytime I power it on it defaults to Amazon Prime. It is so frustrating! I want it to simply open to the main screen like all of my other Rokus do (or at worst YoutubeTV, which is my primary used app). Everywhere I search says Roku cannot default to an app, but mine does... just not the one I would want it to. Is there anyway to fix this???
Hi, @cjw23
Thanks for posting, and welcome to the Roku Community.
We understand the issue you have encountered with your Roku Premiere, which goes directly to the Amazon Prime app after powering on. We're here to help. To resolve this issue, we recommend fully resetting your Roku device to factory defaults. Kindly be advised that A factory reset clears the majority of data from your Roku device and restores it to a factory default configuration. It can be an effective troubleshooting step for issues such as the problem at hand. To perform a factory reset, please refer to the instructions below:
After a successful factory reset, your Roku device will restart in the same state as a factory-new device. You will need to set-up your Roku device once again.
We hope this works, and keep us posted on what you find out.
Best wishes,
Kash
Hi Kash - Thank you.... i did this full factory reset, and it did not work. After the reset I turned the Roku off and back on and it started directly to Prime like it did before :(. Any other ideas?
When you say: turned the Roku off and on, are you talking about pulling out the power plug? Rokus don't normally "turn off" so describing what you are doing may help. If you are using the power button on the remote (if your remote has one) then that is for the TV. I suppose it's possible that a power code for a TV might coincidentally look similar to a Roku code to launch prime???
Hello - Thanks for the response. You are correct, I meant turned my TV off and back on to see if it auto started Prime (after I did the factory reset) and it did. You bring up a good point though.... the Roku isnt shutting off and back on so the remote must somehow be triggering a code to start Prime. I am using Logitech Harmony remote so I wonder if it is somehow triggering it to start Amazon when turning on the TV?
Yes! Try turning on the TV with the TV remote instead. In addition to the possibility of an overlapping IR code, I believe the Logitech Harmony has actions/scenes/macros that allow it to send a sequence of commands for a single button press. Perhaps it is programmed to turn the TV on and launch Prime on the Roku?
