Sling v8. 136 build 17548
Hello. I just deployed this unit today, fresh out of the box. All other streaming apps are working except Sling (so far).
App starts to load, then goes to the spinning circle of death.
Has anyone seen this and if so, how was it resolved.
This is now happening on a second device. It upgraded to the same version and now exhibits the same symptoms.
Hello! @domoxaz,
Thank you for posting in the Roku Community!
We appreciate you contacting us. We understand that you are not able to play Sling on your Roku. We're pleased to assist.
Each channel (app) on the Roku platform is created and maintained by its respective provider. If you experience an issue with a specific channel that does not occur in other channels on your device, it is best to contact the channel provider directly to report the problem and seek further assistance.
We recommend performing the below steps and see if you can resolve the issue:
1. Remove the channel from the Roku device
2. Power cycle the Roku device, by disconnecting it from the power cable and reconnecting the device back to the power
3. Re-add the channel back to the Roku device
For further troubleshooting steps, please visit this link: How to resolve a channel playback issue.
Thanks,
Arjiemar
Thanks for the response.
I've already done the whole uninstall/reboot/reinstall and no change. And as I mentioned in my followup, this build has now deployed to one of my other Rokus with the same symptoms. I even logged out of all sessions for Sling, no change.
Additionally, I have reached out to sling support but have not heard back.
I think it is just an issue with Sling. It took a long time to load (spun for 30 seconds or so). I exited to check something else and while the channel/app loaded to Sling Home Menu just fine, was receiving some 27-7 errors suggesting to "force close" and restart Sling again.
I had to close Sling and reopen (multiple times) before it began to stream properly.
I was watching some of their LiveTV and kept getting the title of the series with Filmrise in the background (both for Kims Convenience and Baywatch) and then South Park (Pluto in the background) while trying to get it to load properly.
I think Sling has changed how it is pulling in their content so may be part of the issue.
After trying a few things (including shifting between networks) Sling is now opening and streaming fine for me.

If you have a mobile hotspot available to you, try connecting your Roku device to it and then opening Sling. If it opens successfully, then go back to using your home network and see if Sling again opens.
Thanks for the reply.
I'm leaning towards a Sling issue as well. My issue is that the app never gets to the menu, it shows the splash screen for about 30 seconds then gets the spinning circle of death and eventually it times out. I've been in and out of YouTube, ESPN, Fox Sports, etc all day and tried Sling a few times in between. No change.
It's getting kind of frustrating - all I did was upgrade/replace the Roku in my master bedroom and now Sling is broken on both that one and the one my home theater system in our family room because it updated as well.
By the way, what version/build are you running on yours?
Tested on an Ultra 4660. (Roku OS 14.0). Sling version 8.136 build 17548
Edited to add... Sorry, missed that you has the 3941. I just tested on my 3941 and getting same experience as you. Just spins, and very slowly (almost jerkingly). I tried switched networks like I did with my Ultra and it did not work for the 3941. Looks like it may be a device-specific issue that needs to be addressed by Sling.
Same issue with the 4800x Ultra in my living room, on v14.0 / app is same version.
