Fantastic!!!! I just wish they would say they're going to properly implement the feature or tell us it's never going to happen for reasons so at least we know and can make informed decisions like moving to a different hardware platform.
If they haven't done it with this 2024 version, it's probably safe to assume they are never going to do it.
I don't know that it's a hardware limitation. I would assume it is software and they can do it if they put time to it.
The Chromecast with Google TV dongle can match 24.000fps content and it's hardware is old and was never amazing to begin with. I can't believe that the Roku hardware can't do it if they chose to implement it.
what i dont understand is that Roku doesnt reply, and those replies they did had nothing to do with the actual issue. are they doing this on purpose?
It cant be an hardware issue why they cant change the framerate. When they are able to change it to 24hz then they are able to change it to any framerate. They have just called it a day.
Remember that the moderators here in the community are not engineers or other technical staff. We have no idea what is happening behind the scenes, and it's possible (not likely, but possible) that they can't get a solid answer themselves. I know if I was in their place I wouldn't want to answer without accurate information.
It also looks like my title was edited for calling the device "worthless".
Dear Dan, thats reasonable. But where is someone supposed to get help? Its definitely a bug which is occuring for a long time and is frankly speaking not acceptable.
It's only a bug if the hardware supports such functionality and Roku doesn't implement it correctly. I have no idea if it's a hardware limitation, but it's certainly possible since Roku changed the hardware starting with the Ultra 4800 and the framerate matching changed at that time.
The 4800x has the same Cortex A55 CPU as the Chromecast with Google TV if what I've found is accurate.
The CCwGTV can do 24.000fps. I can't believe the hardware is so different in the Roku that 24.000fps is impossible, especially since my 4800x takes 25fps content and makes it 50fps. If the chipset can do 23.976fps, 50 and 60fps I have to believe it's the software not properly implementing th feature.
No, starting with the 4800 the Roku switched to a Realtek 1319. It's supposedly a "better" CPU so it can likely do proper frame rate matching with the appropriate software.
