Re: Roku has become worthless without proper frame rate matching

I have always had the "Auto-adjust display refresh rate" turned off on my 2nd gen Ultra (4660x).  I have never noticed any stuttering on content filmed at 24fps or any other frame rate.  Am I one of the lucky ones who's not sensitive to this mismatch?  Or am I just not paying attention? I watch a lot of English and European shows on the PBS app, Korean shows on Netflix, as well as movies and TV on Apple, Amazon, Max, Hulu and Peacock.  I think I have noticed it on Thursday night football on Amazon but I didn't know what the cause was.

FWIW, the Roku feeds a Denon AVR which goes to a 2017 Samsung KS8000.

Re: Roku has become worthless without proper frame rate matching

After years of living with the every-41-second micro-stutter on Netflix, I'm ready to move on from Roku. Is the Apple 4K TV the only solution?

No, Chromecast 4k, ONN’s new Google TV player, and presumably the upcoming Google TV Streamer all support both fractional and integer framerates with Netflix.

Re: Roku has become worthless without proper frame rate matching

I'm heavily invested in Roku with the number of devices I have, but man this particular feature is really making me think about jumping ship.  It's beyond frustrating that such a simple feature isn't present when available content suffers from not having it.

The other issue is the total lack of any communication from Roku on this topic, other than the occasional comment here that either doesn't understand the question or gives us a stock answer for this type of thing.

I wish someone from Roku would just say, yep, we don't have that.  We don't know when, if ever, we'll have feature x,y,z.  And there's no way to get it on their radar it seems.

Truly frustrating.

And as a result, I find myself using the Google Chromecast with Google TV for Netflix content. But the Chromecast won't properly display HDR for Amazon Prime content. So I flip to Roku for just about everything except Netflix.

Re: Roku has become worthless without proper frame rate matching

I guess the fact that it affects Netflix is the biggest shocker for me.  I get that the feature is a bit more niche, but Netflix is one of the biggest streaming services so you'd think they'd look into adding this feature sooner than not.  But here we are.

Re: Roku has become worthless without proper frame rate matching

So the Chromecast has proper frame rate matching on Netflix?  I guess I'm lucky because I have not noticed the stutter and I watch a lot of Netflix (although in 1080p, I have not decided the 4k/HDR tier is worth $7.50/month) and lots of Korean shows which aren't in 4k anyway.

Re: Roku has become worthless without proper frame rate matching

I've not noticed the stutter watching Netflix via Chromecast with Google TV (with framerate matching turned on).

Re: Roku has become worthless without proper frame rate matching

Does the lack of proper FRM mean that, at least for Netflix, it doesn't matter if FRM is turned on or off?

Re: Roku has become worthless without proper frame rate matching

As far as I know, it depends on the content.  Most new stuff from Netflix seems to be true 24.000fps, but other things are the old traditional 23.976fps which we commonly think of as 24p.  Some that might know better can feel free to correct me.
