Are you saying you guys don't have various Roku models (like the ones in the comments regarding this issue) laying around there with the latest firmware 14.0 to load a video file with AC3 audio to test it yourself and see that it's not working properly? That just baffles me.
Same here. Roku was updated on 10/18/2024 and broke the audio streams via roku media player. Roku 3600x.
I had the same problem after my Ultra updated to Version 14.0.4 Build 12221 on 10/19/24. The unit would not play the audio AC-3 format of videos it had previously successfully played.
After much frustration I was successful this morning to get the sound back on by turning off the Roku Sound Leveling feature. Now all my files are back to playing correctly. Interestingly, there is a very slight delay between the start of the video and when the sound comes on. Related?
I hope this helps.
I tested several videos after "turning off the Roku Sound Leveling feature" as suggested and it had no effect on AC3 audio on any of my files still no sound.
Thanks anyway for the suggestion.
On the device I am testing the UI click sounds work only if I am in the normal sound mode. The clicks stop working if I switch to 'Level' or 'Night' modes.
My source is an HDHomerun tuner. Roku is sliding backwards in support for REAL live TV, they cannot support the new ATSC 3.0 audio format of choice (AC4) and now appear to have broken the ATSC 1.0 audio as well (AC3).

Roku does support AC4, but only with the latest Ultra (480x). It likely can't be added to older devices as the hardware probably doesn't support it. There certainly was an issue with AC3 audio, although I can't say if it was specific to Roku Media Player or additional apps.
As far as the HDHR app (which I have as well) I can say that Silicon Dust hasn't been supporting the Roku platform very well lately, so the problem might be with their app and not the Roku OS. I did try Plex on my Express 4K+, and AC3 audio plays fine, which doesn't indicate a serious OS issue. My Ultra 4800 is part of the beta test group, so I can't say what version I'm running. But it's playing all audio fine, so there's likely a fix coming soon.
I'm having this issue while using Roku Media Player only, nothing else, has been working perfectly until the last update, just to be clear on my situation.
